Dryden Artists Enter Congressional Art Competition
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. According to the Congressional Art Competition website, more than 650,000 high school students have participated since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982.
Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
K-12 Art Teacher Mrs. Bobbi Jo Torok announced the ten entries that will represent Dryden Junior/Senior High School in this year's competition. Good luck to the artists!

College Signing Day is coming!
On May 3, our College Signing Day Celebration will allow students to declare their intentions and proudly state their college choice. The Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) has graciously awarded us a grant to cover supplies for the celebration, but we'd like to raffle off some prizes as well.
Items from our Wish List list will be given away to seniors at College Signing Day to send them off with what they'll need in the fall!
Please consider purchasing an item for them. Thank you!

Random Student Spotlight
Kaeleigh Gourieux
Today in our random student spotlight is Kaeleigh Gourieux! Kaeleigh is a 7th grader who has been at Dryden since kindergarten. Kaeleigh’s favorite thing about Dryden is the friends she has made. Kaeleigh started an anime club but hasn’t done anything yet. She enjoys painting and watching anime. When Kaeleigh has free time, she enjoys going on walks and watching anime. Kaeleigh is looking forward to getting a good education so she can pursue her dream career being a teacher or a Japanese translator. Kaeleigh says the hardest thing about COVID is not being able to see everyone and having to go online for school so often.
Conner Fleming
Also in our random student spotlight, we have Conner Fleming! Conner is a Junior who has been at Dryden his entire life. Conner’s favorite thing about Dryden is how small it is. He enjoys writing and drawing but outside of school, he enjoys sleeping. Conner plans to attend college to become an author or a videogame designer. He would like you to know he is writing a novel that he hopes to publish once completed. Conner says the hardest thing about COVID is having to wear a mask every day.
