Home of the Little Giants - October 23, 2020
Fall Party Next Friday
Due to Covid-19 parents will not be allowed to attend the class party, and no outside treats may be sent into the building. The staff will be pitching in to provide special treats for the students that day, but parents are more than welcome to donate a dollar to their classroom teacher to help if you wish. Donations are not required, and students do NOT need to bring in a dollar to participate in the fun!
Since we will enjoy many Fall activities outside, staff and students may wear jeans on this day. We invite students to dress in Fall clothes, such as flannel shirts, overalls, scarves, boots, etc.
This is always a favorite day at JGKA, and we can't wait to continue this tradition with our students!

Chromebook Care
Since the main purpose for supplying these devices was to be prepared if we had to switch to virtual learning, we are sending Chromebooks home with students each night. We hope that students are able to take advantage of this technology. However, we have a concern that not everyone is treating these devices with care. We have had several students bring them to school in bad shape.
Here are some Chromebook expectations:
- Chromebooks should stay in the protective case
- Students should not share their Chromebook with younger siblings
- Food and drink should not be around the Chromebook
- Chromebooks should be handled carefully
- Put the device down gently, and place it in a place where it will not be damaged
We understand accidents will happen, and we will ask the technology department to repair devices the first time without a cost to you. However, repeated damage could potentially become the responsibility of the family.
Unable to Access Internet?
As you know, at JGKA we are committed to building kind, confident learners. This is our daily mission, and it doesn't stop when the buses roll off our lot! We can also help our learners when they need to access learning remotely on their Chromebooks at home. Thanks to the hard work of our district social workers, we can also offer support if your family is need of more reliable internet.
- Does your child struggle with staying connected to google meets or canvas when working at home?
- Do you have more than 1 child on a Chromebook putting a strain on your current internet service at home?
- Does it take forever to upload videos on your school Chromebook?
Contact our school social worker, Mrs. Lopez-Hunt at (317) 789-4318 to request a personal hotspot strong enough to keep up to 3 Chromebooks running at full speed for your child's educational needs.
