First Grade News
Eagle Period
Eagle Period has been a big success. The kids have been enjoying their small groups. Please talk to your kids about what they are learning during Eagle Period. We are trying to get our kids to be comfortable sharing with others what they are studying /learning. We thank you for your support.
Parent Conferences
Monday, October 10th, we will be having our parent conferences. Your confirmation time will be coming home tomorrow in your child's folder. I am looking forward to meeting with each of you. If something comes up and you are unable to attend, please let me know and we will reschedule a time that is convenient for you. We will have 25 minutes to discuss your child's progress and any other questions/concerns.
Fall Festival Saturday, October 29th, 4-7pm
Today in your child's folder there is a note about Fall Festival and the first grade raffle items. Please look it over and consider what you are able to donate toward the raffle items. This is the only fundraiser that all the grades have for the whole year. All proceeds go directly to the first grade activity accounts. There was also a sheet sent home about signing up to work the first grade booths. Please check your calendars and see if there is a time that you can help us out. We appreciate your donations and your time. Thank you!!
October 11th, 12th, and 13th
I am going to a PBL(project based learning) training next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Sharon Davis, a retired certified teacher, will be my substitute. Your children will be in great hands! :) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.
Reading and class folders
Please be sure that your child is reading each night for at least 20 minutes and that you are recording their reading. The more that your child reads, the better reader he/she will be at reading. Your child's folder is also supposed to be cleaned out DAILY. We are trying to teach responsibility to our students, so please help them learn the importance of taking care of their folders. Thanks!!
