A Note from the PTA President
What a jungle of a book fair we had last month! Thank you to all that volunteered and thank you for your purchases. Please read on to view the report on the Book Fair to see how much money we are able to donate to English Landing’s Media Center because of this fundraiser!
March is National Reading month. Here are a few suggestions for how to put those Book Fair purchases to use and engage your family in reading!
1. Choose a theme. Space, ocean animals, dinosaurs, US presidents…. Center your reading around a chosen topic and learn all about it!
2. Read aloud for 15 minutes a day. It turns out that even our cat enjoys listening to us read aloud. Make it a family affair!
3. Visit the library. Let your kids go on a library spree and come home with a pile of books.
4. Do a family reading challenge. See who can read the most in the month of March or let each family member take a turn suggesting a book to be read by all.
5. Read ALL the books! See how many books you can read from the same author. Dr. Seuss and Roald Dahl are two of our favorite authors.
6. Try an audio book. Listen to it in the car, during breakfast, while making dinner. This is just another way to squeeze it in to a busy schedule.
If you haven’t had the chance to volunteer with PTA, there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer with the upcoming Popcorn Fridays, STEMScope Family night, English Landing Variety Show, and Staff Appreciation week. If you’re not able to help with these fun events, please think ahead as we are in the process of forming committees to serve for the 2020-2021 school year. You can attend our upcoming meeting or contact me to find out more about these openings.
At our previous meeting we formed a committee to create a slate of officers for our next school year (2020-2021). We will vote on these officers at our March 2 meeting at 6:30pm in the media center. Babysitting will be provided compliments of the Park Hill School District A-Plus Scholarship Program. Please plan to join us! PTA membership is not required to attend the meetings.

DONATION OPTIONS
Box Tops
Box Tops has gone digital! You can help earn free money for English Landing by downloading the app and scanning your receipts within 14 days of purchase. The app will automatically grab the eligible items and credit the school. Download the app here: https://www.boxtops4education.com/ and follow these steps.
If you have traditional Box Tops clips at home, please send them with your child to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.
The PTA is currently hosting a classroom competition to see which classroom will collect the most box tops. Please be sure to list the name of your child's teacher on all box top submissions until April 30,2020. The classroom with the most box tops will win a pizza party in May!
