Happy New Year!
As 2020 begins it is always a great opportunity to stop and reflect on the previous year and look forward to the new year. Many people choose to set a new year's resolution, but there is a new idea out there that I happen to love. That is the 'One Word Challenge'. The 'One Word Challenge' can be done as a family. The challenge is simple: lose the long list of changes you want to make this year and instead pick ONE WORD that centers on your character and creates a vision for your future. Here are a few examples of words picked by others: joy, laugh, growth, lead, connect, gratitude, shine, flourish.
At Discover U we pick one word to start each school year. Our word for this school year is EMPOWER. Empower means to make stronger and more confident. This is our goal everyday this year and is one of our 3 values NURTURE, INSPIRE, EMPOWER.
Enjoy each and everyday with your family and we cannot wait to see you!
Flashback From Quarter 1 & 2
It's Getting Cold Out!
We know that it is starting to get chilly out. Even with the chilly temperatures Discover U still proudly supports a uniform policy.
To stay warm in class, students may wear a solid long sleeve shirt under their polo. They may also wear a DU sweatshirt or a solid navy blue uniform sweater/cardigan (see pictures below).
Shirts and sweaters are for sale in the front office. Please call if you have any questions 623-974-4827.
Quarter 2 Classroom Attendance
Congratulations to Mrs. Leonard's 5th graders for winning our quarter 2 popcorn and movie party!
Remember it is the law in Arizona that all students must be in school 90% of the time. This means the most days students can miss in a school year is 18 days. Please be sure to get your child to school on time and regularly.
