Raider Update
A Weekly eNewsletter from Hastings Public Schools
Message from the Superintendent
Hello Raider Families,
I want to start by thanking everyone for continuing to support our students! With the first round of concerts and conferences behind us and fall sports wrapping up, we are looking forward to November, which brings the start of winter sports and another round of concerts. Please remember to get out and vote next Tuesday.
We've had folks wonder what the process will be for removing the mask requirement, should numbers drop. The school board approved an additional clarifying statement this past Wednesday, "Face covering levels will remain in place for a minimum of two weeks, beginning the Monday following the date which the 14-day per 10,000 rate drops below a threshold set point number." Hopefully, this helps explain that we would not make an immediate move if the threshold number drops, as we want to avoid moving in and out of masks as much as possible.
This week's county COVID case rate per 10,000 came in at 45.6, and the district rate dropped to 62.5. We had 20 positive cases this week:
Elementary - 5 students
Middle School - 9 students, 3 staff
High School - 3 students
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Bob McDowell, Ed.D.
