Rio Hondo Independent School District
Vision: Academic Excellence and Success
Mission: The mission of the Rio Hondo Independent School District is to educate every student by creating an environment of high expectations, innovation, and strong partnerships.
From Mr. R's Desk
Bobcat Nation,
Please be vigilant this coming week. We need you standing by your door during the passing of periods and please notify administration of any suspicious activity. If possible, assist us with morning duty, lunch duty, and after-school. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Reminder: The end of the 3rd 6 Weeks is Friday, December 20, 2019. Grades will have to be posted on that day. No exceptions.
We are halfway through the school year and I just want you to be mindful of things that should be driving us as we head into 2020.
- Visible Objectives and Task.
- Bell-to-Bell “Learning”.
- Complete lesson plans as required.
- Engaging lessons and activities.
- Following the YAG.
- Lectures should be no longer than 15 minutes.
- Emphasis on Depth of Knowledge.
- Looking at data to identify and target hot-spots.
- CBAs and Benchmarks should reflect 90-60-30.
- Spiraling whenever possible; especially on CBAs.
- Have meaningful and relevant discussions with your students and colleagues.
- All students should be in their classrooms the 1st and last 15 minutes of instruction.
- Your attendance should be at 97%.
- Communicate with parents.
Lastly, do not lose sight of the goal... to go from a "B" campus to an "A". We made huge gains last year and we need to keep the needle moving forward. We cannot afford a step in the wrong direction.

Tommie Wiseman Basketball Tournament Champs!
LA FERIA — All tournament long, Valley View fought its way back and hit clutch shot after clutch shot. After Friday’s thrilling, come-from-behind win in overtime against La Feria, the Lady Tigers were looking to finish what they started.
However, Rio Hondo’s duo of Estrella Garza and Eliza Rodriguez had other ideas. Garza scored a team-high 21 points, Rodriguez netted 13 points and Rio Hondo held off Valley View for a 53-49 win in the 46th annual Tommie Wiseman tournament championship game Saturday.
