How to: Make Spaghetti!
For all the preschoolers craving a yummy snack!
Its Spaghetti Time!
Step 1: Noodles of fun!
1. With the help of your parent, turn on your stove top (DO NOT TOUCH IT BECAUSE IT WILL BURN YOU, WHICH IS NOT FUN AND WILL RUIN YOUR SPAGHETTI)
2. Have your adult supervisor fill a pot with water and place it on the hot "eye"
3. Once the water in the pot has started to bubble, have your guardian put in the noodles for 15-20 minutes and wait for the magic!
Ouch!
Bow ties!
Step 2: Pasta Sauce Party!
Different types: You can either make your own or buy the pre-made jars. The homemade takes longer and the jarred sauce may not be as fresh, but they each complete a yummy bowl of spaghetti!
If you choose to make your own with your mom or dad, then while at the grocery store with them be sure to grab these items for the perfect sauce:
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 teaspoons crushed garlic
- 1 (28 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes
- 4 teaspoons dried basil
- 4 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
If you choose to buy the pre-made sauces then try some of the most popular brands:
-Prego
-Newmans Own
-Barelle
How to Heat It: There are two options for heating your spaghetti sauce- stove or microwave!
Stove- Have your guardian turn the stove on high (AGAIN, DO. NOT. TOUCH.) and place a sauce pan on the eye. Pour your tomato sauce in the pan until it begins to simmer or slightly bubble. Then combine with noodles and your ready to go!
Microwave- Pour your sauce into a microwave safe bowl and place a paper towel over the top. Have your adult place the bowl in the microwave. The more sauce, then the more time it needs to be heated! (ONCE THE BOWL IS OUT, DO NOT TOUCH)
Now your almost ready for your bowl of heaven!
Step 3: Make it Pretty!
But first! Mix your noodles and sauce together and dump into bowl or spoon the noodles into a bowl and pour the sauce on top to complete your nice, delicious bowl of spaghetti!
There are many ways to make your pasta more yummy than just noodles and sauce. Time to garnish your spaghetti!
Common ways include: Parmesan cheese, olive, and basil! This adds more flavor AND fun into your meal! You can always ask your parents for meatballs or even ground beef to mix in with your spaghetti for to make it even MORE tasty! You can even make silly faces on your pasta. Get creative!
