Week #10

Hi Folks - It's hard to believe we are entering the last week of the regular season of football. We had a great Homecoming weekend! The band started off the week's festivities by playing for the Powderpuff football game and getting everybody pumped up for the Homecoming game. Friday, the band was up bright and early to welcome all of the middle school students as they got off their buses. Thanks to all of you who made sure they were at school by 6:45am. The middle schoolers sure were surprised and enjoyed the wake-up call. The band got the student body pumped up for the Homecoming game at the pep rally following the lawn lunch. The tailgate was a rousing success. The 8th grade band members had a fun time in the stands and the band had another great performance at halftime during the game.

Congratulations to the football team for a decisive win over the little dutchmen of A-C. Because of this win, there is a very good possibility that our football season will be extended by at least one week. Please keep November 1st open for a possible playoff game that evening.

This Friday the football team faces off against Columbia for the final game of the regular season which means we will be celebrating our senior band members at halftime. Please read below for more information.

Report time for this Friday will be 5:30pm. Inspection at 5:45pm. We will head over to the stadium immediately following inspection.

As always, if you have any questions, please email Mr. Fair

The annual senior recognition night will take place this Friday at halftime. The band will perform their show as usual at halftime. At the conclusion of our show, the band will remain on the field and the seniors will come forward to the track to meet up with their parents. Band Banquet

The annual band banquet to wrap up the marching band season will take place at the Schaefferstown Fire Hall at 6pm on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Please make sure to fill out a reservation form (attached below) and return with payment to the wooden lock box in the band room by this Friday, October 25th.

On Friday, May 22, 2020, Mrs. Fair and I are planning on taking students in band and chorus on a day trip to New York City for sight-seeing as well as see a Broadway Show. We would depart ELCO around 6am, arrive in New York City around 9am, spend the day sight-seeing, then meet up at the Gershwin Theater around 7:15pm to see Wicked. Cost for the trip is $140.00. This includes the cost of the buses and show ticket. Meals during the day are on your own, so students will need to take some cash with them for food and souvenirs. A commitment form will be distributed next week after the trip is officially approved by the school board at its monthly meeting. A signed commitment form and a deposit of $20 will be due by next Friday, October 25th.

We will need adult chaperones. These will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Adults wishing to serve as chaperones must have their clearances on file with the school BEFORE submitting a commitment form and deposit. Band students may utilize their trip accounts with the booster organization for this trip. If you have any additional questions, please let Mr. or Mrs. Fair know.

Hershey Bears Game

On Saturday, December 7, 2019, the chorus will be performing the National Anthem at the Hershey Bears game that evening. Mrs. Fair is opening up the invitation to ALL band students and their families to attend the game. Cost is $22 per person for 100 level seating. Deadline for submitting money and forms to Mrs. Fair is next Friday, October 25th. Students may ride the school bus from ELCO to the Giant Center and back again. If you will be attending the game, you may take your student home with you, but you MUST sign them out with Mrs. Fair before leaving the complex. If any of the band students wish to sing the national anthem with the rest of the chorus folks, they MUST ride the bus to the Giant Center since we must all enter at the same time and proceed to the lower level as a group. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Fair
