School Facilities will Remain Closed but Learning Continues

Dear Brave Nation,

On Friday, April 17, 2020, Governor Abbott issued an updated executive order regarding the status of COVID-19 related restrictions and closures in Texas. As part of this order, all school buildings in the state will be closed for the remainder of the school year.

While we are sad that we will not see our Braves return to our facilities this school year, we remain committed to protecting the health and safety of our entire community. BravesID distance learning will continue until May 22, when we will all celebrate the last day of school together in some special way. We are confident that our Braves will continue to work hard and finish the year strong!

I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to our parents and caregivers for your support as our Braves have adjusted to learning at home. We have all experienced the frustration and fear of the unfamiliar these last few weeks, and I am so proud of our entire Brave community for facing these days with generosity, humility, passion, and wisdom. Together we are truly #BraveStrong. Your CISD teachers and staff will continue to be here supporting our Braves and families as we conclude the 2019-20 school year apart but in unity.

In the coming weeks, we will be evaluating the status of state and local recommendations as we do everything we can to honor our graduating Braves in the special way that they deserve. We will spend the month of May celebrating the Class of 2020 in many different ways and we invite you to join us by sending encouraging cards, notes, drawings, and pictures (no gifts, gift cards or money) to:

I pray for you all!!
