Opt-out option on district/ school calls
A new feature is available to families in light of a recent FCC ruling. Find out more. In July 2015 and again in August 2016, the FCC provided updated guidance on how the regulations covering the TCPA would apply to schools. These updates contained notable changes that affect organizations which use automated communication systems to send phone calls and text messages.
To keep in line with the FCC regulations on automated calling system, the Lincoln County R-III School District has implemented an "opt-out" option at the footer of messages. According to the FCC ruling, districts can send calls and texts to parents related to the mission of schools. Beginning in mid-August, parents will have the opt-out footer available to them. Messages from our schools will include reminders and general information about your child's school. There are exceptions for calls and texts made for “emergency purposes.”
In order to comply with the FCC regulation, it is important for parents to keep schools informed upon any change in phone number and promptly update the information. The ruling specified calling a number that is reassigned is a fineable offense for school districts. Please help the Lincoln County R-III Schools and ensure your contact information is updated upon any changes.
For parents, there is no action needed at this time unless you choose to opt-out. If you choose to opt-out, please listen to the next automated call from your school and follow the prompts at the end of the call.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL INFORMATION
Parking at CPE
This is a friendly reminder that parking spaces designated for persons with disabilities are exclusively intended for use by vehicles that display a disabled person placard or license plates. These spaces are needed throughout the day and need to be accessible at all times for those in need. Parking illegally in a handicap space could result in a fine, and the vehicle may be towed at the owner/operator’s expense.
Thanks and have a great day!
Meal Charging Procedures
Lincoln Co. R-III School District and Chartwells School Dining Services serve students with quality, well-balanced meals at affordable prices. All students have a meal account that is used to keep track of student deposits and purchases. Parents can view the balances of their child’s meal account via the SISK12 Parent Portal. Your children may qualify for free meals or reduced price meals. Parents need to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application for all students in the household. The completed application is returned to Donetta Schieffer, 951 West College St., Troy, MO 63379. Students are required to keep meal accounts current with a positive balance. However, there are instances when meal accounts do reach a negative balance. If a student’s meal account has a negative balance, below are the District’s practices for students purchasing meals at school:
Students in grades K-5:
* Students are allowed to accrue a negative balance of -$10.00.
* Students that have a meal account balance of -$10.00 or more will not be allowed to
purchase a school tray meal but will receive toast with milk for breakfast and a sandwich with milk for lunch until their meal account has a positive balance.
* Email notifications will be sent weekly to parents.
* Every Friday letters will also be sent home with students who have a +$10.00 or below in their meal account.
