Eastview Gives
Eastview’s Parents are Key (PAK) team is sponsoring a modified holiday giving drive this year. This year's giving drive will once again support Eastview's Random Acts of Kindness fund. EV counselors and administrators use these funds to support students and families in need.
We are seeking to provide gift cards to help families with groceries, weekend meals, personal care items, holiday gift giving, and more. The need is greater than ever with students at learning/eating at home full time, job instability, and the increased stress so many families are experiencing.
We are also seeking gift cards to use as we strive to maintain engagement in fun, spirited activities like our SPARK Spirit Awards (fun advisory activities) student contests and more. Please consider donating a gift card (or two)!
Cash or check donations are also appreciated, and will be used to support Random Acts of Kindness like paying for a student in need to purchase a yearbook, or offsetting costs for Behind the Wheel, prom, etc.
You can drop off donations at the West Entry Security Office between the hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm between now and December 22nd. Please mark envelopes with PAK DONATION when dropping items off. Donations can also be mailed to PAK/Eastview High School, 6200 140th Street West, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
THANK YOU for helping us continue our strong tradition of giving and sharing during this unique holiday season!

ARTS & ACTIVITIES
(New) EVHS Debate Team Update and Highlights
The Eastview Debate Team has recently had strong success at several post-season tournaments. On a broader level, our participation this year has been our most significant success. We have had 124 students compete in an interscholastic event this year. We’re one of the largest teams in the country. In fact, currently, the combined Eastview debate and speech teams are the #2 ranked program in terms of participation and performance in the nation.
Recent Highlights:
-Eastview is sending three students to the NSDA National Tournament to be held in June. Congratulations to Congressional Debater Elise Noonan and Public Forum Debate team Isaiah Dalzell & Izhan Qureishy on qualifying for nationals.
-Eastview is send two Congressional Debaters to State. Congratulations to Elise Noonan and Allison Champ on their qualification to the 2021 Minnesota State High School League State Debate Tournament to be held in January.
-Eastview’s Classic Debate team retained the Governor’s Cup, the overall team sweepstakes award, at the MSHSL Classic Debate Championship tournament. Overall, we had 23 teams compete in this tournament. 20 teams had winning records and 13 of those teams advanced into elimination rounds. The performance of our novice team was particularly amazing—all 9 novice teams had winning records and we collectively “closed out” semi-finals, taking home the top four places.
The Eastview Debate Team is coached by Todd Hering (Head Coach), Zach Prax (Assistant Head Coach), Greta Thomas (Assistant Head Coach), Alex Baker, Karly Beaumont, Rusty Fifield, Ryan Henry, Caitlin Moran, Myles Torell, and Elizabeth Zarate.
(New) EVHS Mock Trial South Suburban Conference Tournament Results
The Eastview Mock Trial team competed in the South Suburban Conference Tournament on December 11 and 12th. This year, the 2-day competition was held virtually, with case facts centering around a COVID-19 contract dispute.
After the completion of all 4 rounds, the Eastview Blue Team took first place in the Novice division, as the only team finishing with a 4-0 record in the tournament. Individual All-Conference honors, awarded by the judges for top performances, went to Kristine Joseph, Breanna Price, Neha Ravella, Raavi Singh, and Sophia Thomas (2 awards). This was the second-ever competition for this all-freshman and sophomore team.
In the Varsity division, Anna Singh and senior captain Sabrina Massie were awarded All Conference honors for Best Attorney and Best Witness, capping off four strong trials for Eastview against some of the top teams in Minnesota.
The Mock Trial team is coached by Jeff Anderson and Scott Oxley.

Any male athletes who are interested in possibly playing in the spring should contact Coach Ryan Dehnel to get information about the season in the spring and the winter training opportunities by emailing him at ryan.dehnel@district196.org.
