Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
October 14th, 2022
We were elated to have at least 137 of our students -- more than one-third of our school --attend Fall Family Night!
And what a great event it was. We are filled with gratitude for our community families for presenting their home cultures! We are also deeply grateful to our teachers and staff for developing our school components and creating an event that highlights the great learning and growth occurring at Lutherville, and connecting our families to that work. If your family would like to present in the future, we are planning for a STEM fair for spring family night, and because the multi-cultural fair was such a hit, running that back in the future. We have already heard from a handful of families interested in sharing their culture given Tuesday's inspiration.
A note on the Lutherville T-shirts we started to distribute on Tuesday. These shirts are a gift to our students from the PTA. The shirts are provided to help insure that every Lutherville child was some apparel to show their school pride, especially on spirit days, and knows we're proud that they're a leopard. We are grateful to the PTA for financing and executing this project! We are continuing distribution this week and all children should receive their shirt shortly if they have not already.

Fall Family Night!
“Gym-NEWS-ium” PE News and Notes from Mr. Bruns
Turkey Trot
Our Turkey Trot will be November 2, 2022 (rain date November 3), The event is a one-mile fun run on school grounds for 3rd-5th graders. We are requesting that all participants donate a minimum of 2 non-perishable food items. These items will be taken to a local food pantry in November.
After the run, the participants will receive refreshments and medals will be awarded to the top three boys and girls of each grade level. All participants will then have a chance to win a turkey and other various prizes.
This is an excellent opportunity to have fun with your friends, get exercise and help those less fortunate!
Sneakers
Please remember to wear sneakers every day to school. We want everyone to be safe during PE class and on the playground at recess. If your child is wearing another type of shoe due to inclement weather, please help them remember to pack their sneakers. Thank You!
PLAY60
Our PLAY60 program is reaching the hallway point. Keep moving and track those daily physical activities as we attempt to have an entire month of at least 60 minutes of activity every day. Here are a few notes about the program.
- The program will run from October 3 – October 28 (four weeks).
- Students track daily activity minutes and weekly totals and have their form signed by a parent. Students must record activity for all four weeks.
- Completed Activity Logs must be submitted to Mr. Bruns by November 1st.
- Participating students will earn small prizes for participating
- A few BCPS students will be chosen to attend a Ravens game in early January.
Missing! The family presenting South Korea lost one of each of the items below. If you have them please return to school!
October Food Drive
Did you know that one-third of the people served by emergency food programs are children? We need you to help these hungry children have a good meal, so they can learn. This will help students have an opportunity to learn about hunger and help other children in need.
From Monday October 3rd -October 31st, Lutherville Lab will be collecting non-perishables to support the Baltimore Hunger Project. Please send in: Canned tuna and chicken, granola bars (crunchy or chewy), protein bars, single-serve cereal boxes, fruit snacks(single serving pouches), applesauce pouches (no cups, please), and juice boxes.
Collected items can be brought to tables that will be setup in the hallway near the cafeteria. There are attached documents related to the food drive. Thank you in advance for your support!
