Six Weeks!

It's been a great six weeks! We have had 3 weeks of virtual school and our in person students have just completed 3 weeks of in person learning. This means we only have a few weeks left before report cards are issued. We have a high number of kids failing classes right now. We KNOW there is a big learning curve with turning in assignment in Schoology. We are here to help! Every teacher has tutoring for in person and virtual students. Students should attend for any and all questions. The expectation is if they are failing they go to tutoring.

Advisory/Intervention is also a time that students should be working on all make up work. During our last house meeting, I outlined the expectations for Advisory/Intervention. Every Tuesday/Thursday all students will participate in advisory or house meeting. Afterwards, they should work on all Schoology assignments. If they finish, they can work on dreambox. Dreambox is a great math program that all students should be engaging in daily. We will soon roll out Reading Plus so that students have an extra opportunity to get extra help in reading. We believe all students need intervention as every student has their own goal to reach.

If you or your child need help/support with anything, please reach out to any of our Counselors or Assistant Principals so that we can set up a meeting.

The late bus is starting on Monday, October 19th.

However, students will need to sign up 24 hours in advance. The library lab will also be open for students to use after school and will be open from 4pm - 5pm Monday - Thursday.

Please let us know how we can help you throughout the year. You are more than welcome to email me directly or call my secretary, Laura Torres, to schedule a meeting with me if you have any concerns or questions. It is my privilege and honor to serve as your child's Principal. Thank you for your support and we look forward to another great year!

Go Cougars!

I.D.’s for all Chapa Students - Chapa Middle School students are expected to wear I.D.’s during the school day. We want to be able to identify all students and adults on campus. The original I.D. will be furnished to students at no cost. Additional I.D.’s will cost $3.00 each. Each morning between 7:45 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. students will be given the opportunity to purchase or pay off an I.D. If students do not have their I.D., students will be charged $3 for a replacement I.D.

SEL Daily Check-In (Attendance)

Everyday we want our students to log in to Schoology and complete their daily check-in. You may see this in their schedule as SEL daily check-in (attendance). It does not take that long and the survey asks two questions. This is something we just started and it's a way to see how kids are feeling (for us to follow up if needed) and just to make sure they are logging into Schoology daily. This isn't "class time" or anyone they need to see. It's simply a form to complete.
7 Mindsets

We are in our fourth year of implementation of the 7 Mindsets. This year we are trying to make sure we talk about our 7 Mindsets daily and educate our CMS Community about what we are studying.

Second Mindset - Passion First

Every mindset has 4 lessons and we have one lesson a week. We will learn about Passion First from October 19th - November 16th.
