7th Grade Language Arts

Curriculum Focus:

  • We have been writing personal narratives this week and completed our final drafts on Friday, November 15th.
  • Our Literature skills focus for the next couple of weeks will be: tone and mood, characterization, and elements of drama including dialogue, monologue, narration, and stage directions as we enjoy the play version of Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol."
  • We will wrap up November with a poetry study that includes a focus on rhyme, repetition, meter, tone, theme, imagery, and figurative language.
  • In both drama and poetry, we will target making predictions, making inferences, drawing conclusions, and using and understanding new vocabulary.

Students will turn in their Outside Reading Projects on Friday, November 22. Students were assigned a Cultural/Historical Fiction book and will create a travel brochure that incorporates the elements of fiction we focused on during the second six weeks.
