Mini Pack Update 10/16/2015
Book Fair is Next Week!
Principal's Pen
Dear Scott Family,
What another great week at Scott! Our students are learning and growing daily while having fun! We are featuring a series we call "Mastering the Mind" adapted from a short motivational book written by Mentoring Minds. This series will provide a quick spotlight on how our mind and thoughts impact our behavior, emotions and success.
Topic 4: Goals
"Make your life a mission-not an intermission."
-Arnold H. Glasgow
What are goals? Goals are the end points toward which all one's efforts are directed. Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. Develop a plan with specific action steps that reflect these components. Then actively follow your plan towards achievement of your goal.
What does goal setting look like in our school setting? All of our classroom teachers are leading our students in setting attainable goals, noting progress, and teaching them to reflect and set new goals. This is a life skill that we all can use. We want our Scott students to understand the importance of setting goals as well as gauging their progress towards achieving those academic goals. Ask your child, "What goal have you set at school?" or "What progress are you making on your goal?"
To reinforce these skills, create a family goal and discuss how you will achieve it together.
"My philosophy of life is that if we make up our mind what we are going to make of our lives, then work hard toward that goal, we never lose-somehow we win out." -Ronald Reagan
Sincerely,
Paige & Leanne

Safety Reminder
Updates and Reminders
Texting/Calls: Please refrain from texting in/around the school. We are responsible for getting 650 students safely to and from school. Please help by keeping your eyes on the road and not looking at your phone.
Bikes on Campus: Parents, please talk to your child about not riding his/her bikeor scooter on campus grounds. We also will be talking to all our students. We have had some near misses with student safety because of bike riders nearly running into other students or failing to stop at the crosswalk. Again, your child's safety is always our #1 concern.
