Monday Morning Memo - Week 15
12/9/18 Two more weeks!
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Thank you!
I want to say Thank you to Sue, Angela, Lori, Cindy and Rachel for their leadership holding down the fort during my absence. The MEMSPA conference was outstanding and is something that I look forward to and plan to attend each year. They had their largest turnout this year with over 600 principals in attendance. Sean Covey was our Keynote Speaker and shared stories about his childhood, goal setting and the impact of WIG's.
During the conference, I focused on attending sessions that would continue to help our students social emotional learning and help me become a better instructional leader through facilitation techniques. Here are some action steps I plan to take to take the content that was shared and turn it into learning that will impact Poupard's environment and culture:
Immediate Implementation -
-Staff Shout Out Board
-Visual Poster Check-in's to see "Who's in the room?"
- 2 weeks - Incorporate facilitation techniques learned during PLC and Staff Meeting times.
- 2 months - Dive into CCSS with Vertical Teams to determine what a years worth of growth means and enhance teacher clarity.
- Collaborate with SSW's to present information about ACE's (Adverse Childhood Experiences) with staff.
- Preparation for Next Year - Applying for a SEL grant through MEMSPA to work with MDE in assessing our school environment and plan for continued improvement.
I've condensed my notes from the sessions and attached them to this link for anyone interested in reading them. Let me know if you have any difficulty deciphering them :x.
Community Coaching - Principals and Coordinators
Poupard is hosting two coaching meetings this week for LiM schools around our area. On Monday, we're hosting principals of LiM school and on Tuesday we're hosting Lighthouse Coordinators. Community Coaching allows for LiM schools to share insight, collaborate and work towards implementing the program with fidelity.
You will see us walking around the building, talking to students, and maybe visiting some classrooms. Please know, you are not being observed during this time and we're mainly focusing on the impact LiM is having on our students and their learning environment.
I'm glad we're hosting because it allows for me to be at the meeting on Monday, while still being available at the building. Please let me know if you have any questions around the Community Coaching Days.
Green Team
Cathy Rapp is looking for someone to assist her in leading the Green Team. Cathy's schedule requires her to be in multiple buildings at different times and its been difficult for us to meet with the Green Team as often as we'd like. She is not looking to give up the position but would love a partner in crime. Please let Cathy and myself know if you have any interest in assisting with the Green Team.

*Parent nominations will be accepted through December 12th.
*Teachers nominations begin in January and will be accepted through February 6th, 2019.
Teachers, let me know if you have students that you believe would make great candidates for the magnet program.
- Please continue to send any PTO Ambassador forms to the office.
- Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
- Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
