Look under the NEWSLETTER tab to find "view" or "downloads" of the spelling word list, the spelling dictation sentences, the xtra math pins, and the RAZ kids login cards.
For xtra math website, students use my email: belinda.wells@leanderisd.org, then use the pin number from the download. Most students are now successful in getting into RAZ Kids.
A note from Mrs. Wells
We have introduced our first PBL (problem-based learning) project. The students are starting to research the energies that power our world, with a focus on green alternative energy choices. We will be blogging our research and giving credit to sources. Our final project will be presented to an audience the Thursday before Thanksgiving. We hope to have parents, and people from our community to join us as students show their learning.
Math Homework
1. Mrs. Reim gave the students a worksheet for homework today using in/out boxes.
2. 15 minutes on xtra math website
3. PACE Math kids need to spend 20 minutes on the TEN MARKS website.
4. Also, they may work on Jam Sessions.
Reading
Students are getting really good at writing digital diary entries. This the last week that I want the students to focus on the "A" character traits. They need to write an entry using an "A" trait they haven't used, yet. I have the list of traits and an example on the homepage of my website. I PROMISE their vocabulary will get better along with their writing and reading!
Spelling
Spelling Compound Words
Spelling words and sentence dictation are downloads on my website.
1. Students should practice writing the sentences at least 3 times during the week. They should focus on neatness and using capital letters at the beginning of sentences and the correct end punctuation.
Social Studies
Next week, we are beginning to study Texas Geography.
Science
We took the first science benchmark today on electrical connections. Those scores will probably be placed in the first 9 weeks report cards.
Next week, we will be gathering research on our green renewable energy project.
HOMEWORK:
We would like the children to keep an "Energy Diary" on notebook paper or on a Google Doc. They should make a list of how they used energy for ONE day. They can keep the diary on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.
Example:
1Light in bedroom
2Light in the bathroom
3Refrigerator all day
4TV (I watched for 2 hours)
5Remote (I clicked 17 times)
6Phone (3 times)
7Car (spent 45 minutes in the car)
If they use the object in the list all day, they may note that!
This will help them to realize how much of their life depends on electricity or other energy sources.
