December 8th-Family Night
More information will be coming home soon.
Math, Science, and Social Studies
This week we will begin studying the 12 facts. Students will spend time each day studying the 12 facts. They will have homework to study at least 15 minutes per night. Please make sure to continue to quiz your child on all the facts we have learned so far. We are working hard on automaticity for all facts 1-12. Your child has fact cards in their zipper pouch for all the fact families we have done so far. We will have an accuracy check on the 12 facts the week we return from fall break on Friday.
Social Studies-This week we will complete our study of the three branches of government. We will have a 3 Branches of Government test on Friday. Students will have a study guide to bring home Wednesday and Thursday night to study for the test.
Reading, Writing, Vocab and Word Study
Word Study-- We will be focusing on multi-syllable words again this week. We will look at open syllables (long vowel, splits just after the vowel) and closed syllables (short vowel, splits between two consonants). We will be sorting into open (VCV words) and closed (VCCV Different and VCCV Doublet) and Oddball (Vowel & Consonant Teams). Both groups will be assessed on Friday. Orange group will be responsible for spelling and sorting. Blue group will only be responsible for correctly sorting the words.
Reading--We will continue our focus on Mars and space exploration as we read like Scientists. We will build Mars Rovers, explore various websites, watch NASA video clips, and read a variety of articles about the space program and rovers on Mars.
Writing--We will be reading Balloons Over Broadway and creating our own Thanksgiving parade balloons.
