HELP NAME OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
VAISD will soon begin construction on the second elementary school. The District is asking for community input on naming both of the elementary schools. Per School Board Policy, the following guidelines shall be used to name a school building or facility in the district:
1. The facility may be named for a person who has served the District or community, especially in service to children.
2. A nominee shall have made significant contributions to the community and/or education and the nominee’s name shall lend prestige and status to the institution of learning.
3. A facility may be named for a local residential or geographic area.
To nominate a person for one of the elementary schools to be named after, please CLICK HERE.
The deadline to submit a name nomination is Friday, June 2.
BACK TO SCHOOL IMMUNIZATIONS
All students need to be up-to-date with their shots before returning to school in the fall. Grayson County Health Department is a provider for the Texas Vaccine For Children Program through the Texas Department of State Health Services. The cost per child is $20 (cash only), each child must have a current/complete immunization record, each child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. See the forms below for more information.
Also, medications (prescription/non-prescription) brought to school need to be picked up by a parent by the last day of school or they will be disposed of by the school nurse. They will not be sent home in the child's backpack nor kept in the clinic for the next school year.
If you have any questions, please contact, Mackenzie Smith at (903) 482-8826.
