Comments from previous students

  • Longwood has a great Education program for those who want to go into the teaching career. If you don't like big campuses and don't do well with large amounts of people then you'll fit right in. You create a great group of friends pretty fast.

  • I have to say I learned more in my first semester at Longwood than my entire four years in high school. The teachers spend one on one time with you making sure that you understand the criteria. The information taught is applied to everyday life; in other words you feel like you actually use what you learn.

  • Those who come to Longwood expecting an easy ride beware! Despite its reputation as a school for education majors only that almost everyone can get into, the quality of Longwood's faculty and classes is fantastic. My class sizes are always small, ranging from as few a nine people up to about thirty five. Additionally, the professors are extremely accessible and are ALWAYS willing to help and offer advice, but still challenge you. Because of the small class sizes, professors have more opportunities to do field work. Class trips that I have been on included working on an actual archeological dig for my archeology class, and taking a trip to a national park to discuss Virginia wildlife.
