The Walkathon is the Home & School Club’s largest annual fundraiser. All proceeds directly support HSC-funded enrichment programs at Lietz, including Art Vistas, Project Cornerstone, Create with Clay, and more. Our theme this year is Lietz Ninja Warrior, a wonderful opportunity for our students to recognize how powerful they can be! I’m looking forward to walking with everyone on October 26.

September PAWS Recognition Winners

Here are our Problem Solvers of the month! This year, students will be recognized at our monthly PAWS assembly, and will be invited to a Principal's Pride Lunch with a friend or family member.

PBIS Corner

The Lion’s Den is Full! Students Are Ready to Rock and Roll!

Students filled up the Lion's Den with PAWS tickets. This is the Lion's Den that was built by the very talented Jeff Long, who is Mrs. Long's husband (5th grade teacher.) Then, our extraordinary parent leader, Mrs. Kelli Martines gave it a beautiful paint job in the school colors, and her own font lettering. We are so grateful for their contribution to the school and the PBIS program (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support).

The Rock and Roll Recess for students is this Friday, October 5, from 12:00pm to 12:40pm. We’ll have the sound system out playing music, lunch will be at the regular times.

Kinders will join the fun from 12:00 - 12:20pm.

This is Tier 1 of 3

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) has three tiers of support for students, and teaching school-wide behavior expectations is called Tier 1 level of behavior support. This is the part that many parents hear about from their students, especially the PAWS tickets. But there is more to it than the tickets! The reason it is called tier 1 is that it affects all students, and it creates a foundation to build upon for higher levels of student support. Tier 1 includes all students, no matter what age or class. All students are taught the expected behaviors of the school, and then are given feedback when they are meeting those expectations. Many times, when a teacher or staff member notices a student meeting those behavior expectations, they are given a PAWS ticket. This ticket becomes a raffle ticket in the classroom bucket. Then, all the tickets are used to fill up the Lion's Den. The Lion's Den serves as a way to celebrate the collective effort of our staff who are setting expectations for the students, and the students are living up to them. Then, there are tier 2 and 3 levels of support for students identified as needing more support in meeting the behavior expectations of Lietz, but right now, we as a staff, are focused on creating a great Tier 1 experience for our students. At home, continue to ask your children, "What does PAWS stand for?" (hint: Problem Solve, Act Respectfully, Wise Choices, Spread Kindness!)

We Need You!

  • STEAM Night - We are looking for parents who would be willing to help run/manage an activity station. We are also looking for parents who would be willing to talk about their career to students, if it is in the Science, Tech, Engineering, Art or Math field. We would set up a small table for you. Feel free to bring anything you'd like! Please contact me if you're interested.
  • Yard Duty - This would be a paid position. If you are only available on certain days, we could make that work. Please contact me if you're interested.
