Roadrunner families, we have a great opportunity on December 1st for students to participate in a free upcoming Dental Sealant Clinic, made possible by Dr. David Kelly from Kelly Dental Services! There is space for approximately 40 students to participate.

If you choose to participate, your child will receive the following during the school day:

• An intraoral dental exam, checking for visible cavities
• Dental sealants, if needed
• A dental cleaning
• A report of the assessment with detailed notes of the procedures

What are sealants?
Dental sealants are tooth-colored coatings that fill the grooves of back teeth. They prevent tooth decay by keeping out food and germs that cause cavities to grow. The Surgeon’s General report on oral health indicates that sealants can reduce decay in school children by more than 70 percent. – CDC Division of Oral Health

School-based dental sealant delivery programs provide sealants to children unlikely to receive them otherwise. In 2015, 75% of Arizona third graders needed dental sealants, and 60% of Arizona third graders were affected by tooth decay; 30% had pain, dental infection or severely decayed teeth in need of urgent treatment.
