Parents, We need YOUR help!
To honor our staff, volunteers, and parents who work so hard to make a difference, we have created a "Caught Being Awesome" Google Form. If you recognize someone through this form, the honoree will receive an email from our Superintendent and a "Caught Being Awesome" window decal that can be displayed to encourage others to spread even more love and appreciation.

Visual and Performing Arts News (VAPA)
Visual and Performing Arts News (VAPA)
from Cyndi Fuhrmann VAPA Instructor K-5th grade
Kindergarten at ECDC and all Village classes have had a great start to a year! I have seen every student every week and we are excited to switch our next 7 week rotation Oct 15-Dec 6th (those band students who missed some of VAPA for the past 7 weeks will rotate to a new day). This also means all classes will have a shorter VAPA Wednesday for one rotation throughout the year.
DANCE and MUSIC
For the past weeks students learned about elements of dance and tried different kinds of LINE DANCE - from the electric slide and cupid shuffle to the makarena! We will play some of the line dance songs at the FALL FESTIVAL if students and parents want to join the fun!
VISUAL ART
AMAZING PTO volunteers have brought such a fun energy to our Meet the Masters art lessons! Grades 1-5 learned about Henri Rousseau and his love for painting jungle scenes even though he never left Paris. Artwork in on display in the Village hallways up and downstairs for classes 105, 205, 305 , 405 and 505. Kindergarten students made beautiful palm trees after learning about the colorful Tahitian artwork of Paul Gauguin.
A huge thank you to PTO MTM Facilitator Kim Huang who creates the sign-up-genius schedules for volunteers who want to participate in the MTM lessons.
Next MTM lessons we will learn about the history and culture of Southwest Pueblo Native American potter Maria Martinez . Students will shape and decorate their own pottery!
We truly value each and every one of you and the preparation, dedication and excitement you bring to our art lessons! This is going to another incredible year of art at our school!
Halloween -Character Connections -October 31st
1st Year Trial -Character Connections Dress Up at Halloween
For Halloween this year, Village and ECDC are welcoming our students to wear seasonal tee shirts, outfits or simple costumes (no masks, makeup, hair dye, props, or scary/gore please) making a connection to their favorite book character. If your child has the book at home that mirrors their favorite character costume, please have them bring the book in with them to share. It is not mandatory for students to come dressed in character, but are welcomed to do so, if they so choose. Dressing up is optional. We also do not expect that parents to go out and purchase an additional costume. If you celebrate Halloween and are going to dress up, search online and make the connection to a book character. We are sure you will be able to find any pre-determined costume meet the character connection requirement.
Although we have made some plans to recognize Halloween, we also respect the importance of learning time, safety, and our students who do not participate in Halloween activities.
All costumes will be subject to Admin discretion and removal. Parents will be notified and students will need to change clothes.
Let's make this character connection dress up trial year a success!
