Million Dollar Question
Thoughts
When Mrs. Worrell and Mrs. McNair got there Friday one of the first things they asked me was what is something that you are extremely proud of about Taylor. I told them it is the relationship first culture that has been created by the teachers. I bragged how every adult in the building tries to connect with the students first before trying to hit them with content, you've got to reach them before you can teach them! As we walked through the school they commented multiple times on how they saw genuinely happy students and teachers. They said they could feel it as they walked through the halls and visited classrooms, it was a happy place to be. As we walked I told them though that it's not just about making kids happy, because you all have built the relationships now you can hold the expectations high. I talked with them about how the only escape from poverty is education and how we are instilling grit and determination into our students by keeping expectations high and doing away with the "poor baby" mentality.
So I want to ask you, and you ask yourself, what are you doing this week to make your students excited to come into your classroom?
