Black History Month

Mrs. Lavina Meeks, Family Ambassador at Ohio Avenue Elementary School in CCS, wrote this series of newsletters with content for adults and children. In her words:


Black history is American history and should be taught throughout the year across the curriculum—not confined to a single month. Learning about black history is good for all students, not just African American students. It helps end racism.

Note the new date - this is a change from what was previously published. Math Night will be Thursday, February 24th and will have two sessions - one for grades K-2 at 6pm and a second for grades 3-5 at 7pm. Please join us!

Kind people show concern for others and are helpful, generous, and considerate. They often do nice things without expecting nice things in return.


Help connect social emotional learning (SEL) at home with school by encouraging your Gator to display Kindness and maybe be selected for Student of the Month in their class!

February CCS Pathway Express: Columbus Museum of Art

Each CCS student along with one parent/caregiver gets free weekend General Admission to the Columbus Museum of Art in February (Saturdays and Sundays 10am - 5pm). If you want to visit during the first weekend in February (the end of the Van Gogh exhibit), call 614.221.6801 to reserve your Pathways Express ticket. Be prepared to pay a fee to add the Van Gogh exhibit (no free admission to this) if you want to see that, but you are not required to attend (and thus pay for) that exhibit if you do not wish to.


CCS Community Partners will be on site February 12 with games and prizes. See the Pathways Express site for more info.
