Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Dear Cape Parents,
We hope you had a safe and enjoyable summer! We want to thank you for your support and understanding as we respond to this epidemic in our community and nation.
We are very proud of the way our Cape students, parents, and staff handled the demands we were faced with to protect everyone as we continued to educate and feed our students during the most unusual of circumstances. Our Cape Cafe staff continue to feed families each day from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the bus ramp.
As you know, there continues to be concerns and questions related to how schools plan to reopen on August 31. While we are in the business of educating, our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you have about Cape and your child. Thursday at 8:00 p.m. is the deadline for you to pick the instructional model for your child. We appreciate you picking the model that fits your family’s needs currently. If your family's needs change prior to the start of school, contact Cape to change your selection. In order to plan accordingly, your selection is important to us. Click on the link to complete the short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JJSX9TY.
Be assured, we have been working diligently at Cape to make our school safe and healthy for reopening. We are making plans for:
- classrooms, PE, recess, and special area classes
- parent drop off and pick up along with the bus ramp
- cleaning of classrooms and campus
- training and communication with staff and students on spatial awareness
- staff and student care
- CKC and clubs
- no volunteers, parents or visitors in office or on campus
We will continue to work with the district as decisions are made for schools and students.
Meet the Teacher will look different this year. We are planning on a Meet the Teacher Drive Thru the week of August 24th along with individual virtual Meet the Teachers. Kindergarten families will have an "in person" Meet the Teacher the week of the 24th also. More details with exact dates/times to come in the next few weeks. In the meantime, please make sure Cape has your correct address, phone number and email address. This will ensure you get all communication sent from the district and Cape during the year.
We encourage our parents to frequently visit our website and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-date and accurate information.
As we continue the planning process, we will keep you updated. Thank you for your continued support and positivity as we strive to do what is best for ALL of our Cape kiddos and staff during these challenging times.
Stay strong! Stay healthy!
Sincerely,
Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
