We Are Pleasant Union #StrongerTogether
Principal's Message
Thank you to Kayla, Ben, and Henry for assisting with the deployment of hot spots for students who needed internet access! Our Area Superintendent, Chris McCabe is interested in virtually visiting a few classrooms during Class Meets or small groups. If you'd be comfortable with him doing this, please email me.
Grading
Here is what the state has currently said about grading. Please know that more information will be forthcoming when Academics provides additional guidance next week.
Elementary (K-5): Students will receive no final grade in K-5. Instead of a final grade, teachers will provide year-end feedback for students regarding learning from the school year. Middle school courses taken in elementary school will follow the middle school guidance below.
Coming soon we will receive:
- Logistics for implementing spring grading based on this guidance. This will include specific information on promotion / retention processes at each level.
- Any necessary revisions or updates to previously communicated WCPSS guidance or FAQs.
- Language to be used to assist with communications to teachers and parents.
It is likely that you will be contacted by some parents and students about the state’s guidance today. Please communicate tightly to the bulleted information above and avoid additional elaboration that may not align to the implementation logistics that will be coming soon.
Class Meets
Kayla and I really enjoyed attending many of your Class Meets. We will attend additional Class Meets this week. Kayla created this document so we can keep track of the dates, times, and nicknames to access meets.
Announcements/Reminders
Attendance
Teachers, please continue taking a log of which students attend your class meets, and which students participate in daily office hours. This could be done in OneDrive or in a notebook. I am not going to ask you to turn this in at this time. I have already communicated to parents, that we are tracking student participation.
Wake Connect Remote Learning Resources
The county has created a "one-stop shop" for remote learning resources for staff. Please visit https://wakeconnect.wcpss.net/sites/remote-teaching-and-learning for additional information about sample schedules, PLT planning resources, information about prioritizing standards and more.
Telework Logs
Remember to upload your teleworking logs to the Google Folder shared last week.
Self-Care During Difficult Times
See the March 23 email from Jasmin Traughber with resources about self-care. Please engage in self-care - it's so important - especially now. And hey - the more time you have to practice them now and make them routine, the more likely you may use them when we are up and running again - and maybe a great thing to teach your kiddos and start your days off. Just a thought! Here are some free resources from Calm.
