School News and Updates

Principal's Message

It's hard to believe that we are about half way through the school year already! January and February seem to be extra busy so make sure to keep updated on school activities and events by scrolling through the school newsletter and checking out the Sequoia app. The Sequoia Parents Club Facebook page is also another great place to get information about all things Sequoia and SPC.

I want to let you know that the school board approved fencing upgrades to the Calistoga and Dupont Dr. sections of fencing at Sequoia. The current 3 ft. fences have not been updated for many years so we look forward to a nicer, 6ft fence on both sides. In addition, the district is installing a new fire lane gate near the large parking lot where the current yellow gate is and new fencing in between the MPR and first wing of the school. We hope to complete fencing upgrades over spring break. In December, I mentioned we would have a meeting regarding the various phases of construction happening at Sequoia in the coming months and years. I am working with the district to secure that date for the beginning of February.

Next week, on January 24th at 6:00 in the library, we will hold a general parent meeting to review and give input on the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan). The LCAP describes the district-wide and school-wide goals, as well as specific actions to be taken to achieve the goals for all students, including specific subgroups of students. This is your chance as a parent to provide input that will not only be taken into consideration at the school level, but reported to the district as well. I welcome feedback on how we've done on our LCAP goals in the last year and any suggestions moving forward. I hope to see you on January 24th!

Please remember there is no school on Monday, January 21st to remember Martin Luther King Jr. and his contribution to civil rights in our country.
