Eagle Sports Recap:
It’s a Great Day to Be an Eagle (Recap)!!
Wrestling
On Wednesday the Centennial Eagles Wrestling Team hosted both the Parkrose Broncos and Milwaukie Mustangs at our first home event. Nearly 90 matches were wrestled during the evening. The night started off with the JV men wrestling both schools. Highlights from the JV matches were Tenzin Yeshi winning a close match 3-2. George Boyd had 53 second pin against Parkrose and Liam Miller pinned his opponent in just over a minute. Overall the JV men dominated in nearly every match.
After the conclusion of the JV matches the women's and men's Varsity matches began. Due to low women's numbers on the Parkrose and Milwaukie teams, the Centennial Women battled both schools simultaneously in a round robin style of bracketing. The Centennial Women pinned their opponents in the majority of their matches. Kyanna Arenas pinned her opponents in both of her matches and Julia Loanis went undefeated during the evening.
The Varsity men also took care of business. The Centennial Men defeated Parkrose 75-6. The majority of the wins in the dual were pins by the Centennial men. Highlights from the dual were Dale Farness pinning his opponent at the end of the third period while leading 7-2.Both Jared Schneider and Elijah Sweet pinned both of their opponents in under 40 seconds.
The men's final varsity dual came against the Milwaukie Mustangs. Centennial defeated Milwaukie 70-9.Out of the 11 Matches wrestled, the Centennial men pinned their opponents 7 times. Sam Ramirez got a quick pin in 43 seconds while the majority of the other pins took less than 3 minutes. Jared Schneider also battled a tough opponent to a 9-1 victory putting his opponent on his back twice during the match.

December 2023. Week #2
Freshman year of high school is not just the transition from middle to high school, it is the time when students begin responding to new challenges in their academic performance assessment. And if students are successful in understanding and timely adjusting to the new academic performance assessment system, it may lead them to a great college education.
Important elements of that system to know are grades, final grades, trimester grades, credits, GPA
(grade point average). Grades are levels of a teacher’s evaluation of a student’s performance in class.
The student’s current grades and progress in class, called Progress and Grade Reports, may be accessed through ParentVue and StudentVue. Grades viewed are unofficial and are not permanently recorded in the school records, report cards or transcripts.
Trimester grades are permanent grades reflected in the twelve-week report cards which count towards determining the student’s GPA. These report cards are mailed directly to the student’s residence. Trimester grades are considered final grades and will be recorded in the school transcript for the student. If the student fails a course, he may repeat it for credit or grade. However, the information on the failed courses remain in the official transcript and they are calculated into the student’s GPA and rank. GPA (grade point average) is calculated by averaging all grades a student earned in a certain period of time of high school.
The GPA can be used by colleges to assess applicants. Colleges look at all four years of high school academics, so it is important to perform well in courses right from the freshman year.

CHS Senior 2024 Graduation Party Fundraiser (12/12) and Need Volunteers. The CHS Senior 2024 Graduation Party Committee is seeking volunteers to help fundraise, plan, and run the traditional CHS Senior 2024 Graduation Party. The CHS Senior Graduation (SANP) Party is not a function of the Centennial School District but has been a traditional celebration for graduating seniors for many years. Because this is not a CSD Event, a group of seniors and parents/family members must plan and run the party for it to happen each year. The 2024 Senior Graduation Party planning committee is working to ensure seniors have a great experience and needs volunteers to help make the party a reality. If you would be willing to volunteer your time to be on the CHS Senior 2024 Graduation Party Committee, please get in touch with them at centennialhighschoolsanp@gmail.com. Also, support our Senior at the upcoming SNAP fundraiser at Red Robin on December 12th!

Reminders:
Renaissance Star Math and ELA Assessment Results Mailed Home with Report Card. Included with the Trimester 1 Report Cards being sent home this week are student Renaissance Star Math and ELA assessment results. CHS Students will take the STAR Math and ELA Assessment three times this year through their Advisory classes. We use the results of these assessments to measure general achievement in reading and math and to determine individual student learning needs. As students take the assessment over the year, it will also show student learning growth and identify skills they can work on to improve their learning. It is essential to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how a student is doing in school. You can Scan the QR Code or see https://www.renaissance.com/star-scores/ for more general information. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your student's teacher.
Be a Good Neighbor to our Centennial Community. We always want our Centennial Community to know that we respect our community and show what it means to be and Eagle with our positive actions.
- Please be respectful to all our CHS Neighbors and community around the school.
- Be mindful of the traffic congestion and the safety of everyone on Haig Drive, 174th, Marie and 181st, particularly during the busy pick-up and drop-off times.
- Do not blocking driveways or parking in marked No Parking Areas posted at dismissal and arrival.
ParentSquare will become Centennial's Official District Communication Jan. 2024. Centennial School District is excited to fully implement ParentSquare - our official centralized District communication platform. The District Remind messaging application will sunset Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 and we encourage all our families to register and connect with us via ParentSquare.
ParentSquare will serve as our District messaging platform, which offers an array of digital communication tools, including email, text, phone messaging, forms and much more. Almost all Centennial families have already registered to ParentSquare – placing us at a 96% contactable rate of our families.
Using this platform streamlines District messaging to a single source for our community. Ensuring reliable communication channels is important for our community, and we want our families to know they can count on us to provide them with the tools needed to stay connected with content that relates to them and is easy to use.
Check out the ParentSquare video tutorial below. We also encourage families to update their contact information in Synergy to ensure you have your name, phone number, address, emails and home language updated.
