Ms. Linda's Letter

Dear Preschool Families,

We are looking forward to celebrating St. Patrick's Day and Easter with your children this month. The Easter story, while beautiful, can be confusing to young children. At Unity Preschool, we try to keep things simple and focus on the positive and joyful parts of the Easter story. Remind your children that we celebrate Easter to remember what God does for us, and how much he loves each one of us. Easter is bigger than we can understand, so we do not have to know all the answers to talk with our children about Easter. May you find much joy and love in celebrating Easter.

Much love,

Ms. Linda

Director - Unity Preschool

P.S. Remember to SPRING FORWARD this weekend. Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 am

on Sunday, March 12.

Kindness Day - Thank You

I wanted to share some pictures from our Kindness Day in February. The Twos class made a kindness chain. Anytime someone was kind to a friend in class, a loop was added to the chain and they also made cards for each other. The Threes class put together a snack basket for our grateful Church Staff and delivered it to them. Our Fours class made a kindness quilt and also created Easter cards that we will send to some of our homebound church members in March. Thank you so much for treating our Staff with breakfast and a $25 gift card to some great local places! We appreciate your support - it was a beautiful day.

Green Day and Easter Celebration

Our next Color Day is Thursday, March 16 and it will be GREEN DAY! For many years, a leprechaun has visited Unity Preschool causing mischief in our classrooms, but also leaving some treats. We look forward to following clues to see if we can catch him this year.

Our Next Spirit Day is Thursday, March 30. We will celebrate Easter in our classrooms. Your teachers will send party requests later this month.

Teacher Feature - Coach Shannon

Coach Shannon Myatt has been Unity's Playball coach for the past two years. Playball is a sport and movement program for children of all athletic abilities. It provides a broad introduction to physical activity as well as developing and refining skills used in a variety of sports. Coach Shannon brings new and exciting lesson plans to our children each week on Wednesday.

Coach Shannon and her husband, Chris, have three busy boys in middle and high school. Coach Shannon is originally from Chicago and her family moved to Fort Mill 3.5 years ago.

Here are a few of Coach Shannon's favorites:

Favorite Foods: Pizza - preferably Chicago Deep Dish

Favorite Band: U-2

Favorite Movie: Goodfellas

Favorite Activities: Running, hiking, working out, and spending time with her busy family.

VIP - Ms. Leah

Ms. Leah Martin has been a VIP in our Four's Owl class since January. She is the mother of Ms. Elizabeth (Lead Teacher - Owl Class) and grandmother of Katherine (Three's - Monkey class). Ms. Leah is married to Fort Mill native, Chip Martin, and they live behind the church in Whiteville Park. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. We are so lucky to have her help us during Center Time on Wednesdays.

Scholastic Book Order

We sent home scholastic flyers with your children today. You can choose to have your books shipped to your home or delivered to the preschool with our school order. With a $25 order, you can pick a FREE $5 Book (use code: READS).

Your orders help us purchase more books for our Preschool Library as well as Birthday, Christmas, and End-of-Year books for your children. We also included a Preschool Wish List with some books that we would appreciate for our preschool library.

We will be finalizing our order on Thursday, March 16 so that we receive the books before Spring Break. We included a link below for the digital flyers for preschool students. Thanks in advance for your support.

Please place your online orders by Thursday, March 16!

Unity Preschool Needs

We checked our supply closet and we are running low on disinfectant wipes (e.g., Clorox) and baby wipes. We use a lot of baby wipes when we do painting projects. We would appreciate any donations to help us through the end of the year.

We are also looking for gently used Little Tikes vehicles for our "parking lot." The children have so much fun with these cars and some of ours are showing some wear. If you have outgrown yours or see them for sale on neighborhood postings, please let Ms. Linda know.
