Medal of Honor Week

It is a tremendous pleasure to once again welcome the Medal of Honor recipients to our schools! On Thursday morning, the recipients were celebrated at Robert E. Lee Intermediate and Gainesville High School and then returned to GHS Thursday evening for the Patriot dinner. On Friday morning, Lee students were able to participate in the tree dedication at the walking trail. Unfortunately, the parade is cancelled due to the weather forecast, but our GHS marching band and GJH banner carriers were ready to be a part of the week as well! Full photo albums can be found on the Lee and GHS facebook pages. Thank you to the Medal of Honor Host City Program for allowing our GISD students and staff to be a part of this memorable week!

National Honor Society Cell Phone Project

Gainesville High School was happy to partner with the Stanford House to bring the cell phone project. Senior citizens were given the opportunity to sign up to get a one-on-one lesson on how to use different features on their smart phones and social media. The class was a hit! 18 seniors signed up, so Mr. Glover arranged for 18 NHS students to atttend the first class. The first but definitely not the last!

Parents are strongly encouraged to monitor their child's meal account for negative balances using https://www.myschoolbucks.com, downloading the MySchoolBucks app to your device, or easily access through our GISD mobile app. Breakfast is free for ALL PK-8th grade students and for qualifying GHS students. Students will have a credit limit of 3 breakfast meals plus 3 lunch meals. An alternate meal will be provided daily once a student exceeds the credit limit of 3 breakfast meals plus 3 lunch meals. When a student's meal account is negative, the district will notify the parent.
