Meet Nashua Staff!
Mrs. Trena Morrison
Hello, my name is Trena Morrison. This will be my 29th year of teaching. I’ve been the reading teacher at Nashua for 20 years. I am married with a stepdaughter age 30 and a son age 24. I have a pitbull named Harper and an American Bully named Sherman. I absolutely love helping students become more skilled and competent readers.
Mrs. (Nurse) Carolyn McGeeney
Nurse Carolyn is excited to be starting her 6th year with the North Kansas City School District. She is married and has one daughter, two sons, and two older stepsons. Nurse Carolyn is also a grandmother to 4. Spending time with her children and grandchildren is her favorite past-time along with long walks.

Proposition A
As we plan for the bright future ahead in North Kansas City Schools, our top priority is ensuring continuity and a strong organization to serve our community well. Dr. Dan Clemens has announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2023 – 2024 school year. We greatly appreciate Dr. Clemens’ service as NKC Schools’ superintendent for the past seven years, and as he prepares to retire, the Board of Education is planning a purposeful, gradual transition to our next superintendent. The Board will begin reviewing candidates this winter and will select a Chief of Staff in the spring. This individual will work side-by-side with Dr. Clemens throughout the 2023-2024 school year, with the Board deciding whether to transition the Chief of Staff to Superintendent for the coming years.
You are invited to participate in a town hall meeting to gain your insight and thoughts on what is important as a new leader is hired for North Kansas City Schools.

Portrait of a Graduate
North Kansas City Schools will continue to implement our Portrait of a Graduate initiative this year. This program is designed to teach students different life skills that they can use to be successful.
- During the month of November, North Kansas City Schools will be focusing on Adaptability as a part of the district’s Portrait of a Graduate program. Adaptability is characterized by students being able to work effectively in an ever-changing environment and utilizing feedback in order to improve outcomes. Adaptability can be supported at home by naming times your child is showing the trait.

Reminders about Car Rider Drop-off (Repeated)
- Please ensure that your students are prepared to get out of the vehicle before you pull up to stop (ready to get out with backpacks, water bottles, etc.)
- If your child is reluctant to exit the vehicle, or if they are unprepared to exit the vehicle for any reason, please pull forward and to the left side while you resolve the issue, so that the line can continue to progress
- For safety reasons, students should exit the car on the passenger side.
- To avoid your child receiving a tardy and impacting their attendance, please attempt to complete drop-off before 9:12
Picking Students Up Late (Repeated)
Car Rider Line Procedure (Repeated)
Car riders will access their line from the westbound lane of 114th street by way of McGee street. The NKC buses will access the bus loop by driving eastbound on 114th street.
In addition, if you are lining up early for dismissal, we ask that you not block driveways and mailboxes along 114th street or McGee street.
Thank you so much for your cooperation, as this helps for a smoother dismissal for everyone.
