Note From The Director...
Dear Knight Families,
We are in the final days of summer. If you are anything like me, it includes last minute shopping for uniforms, school supplies and all of those other school related things that always seemed to be needed “later.” Well “later” is almost here. We have a lot of information in this newsletter, so I will keep this message brief. We are so grateful to have you coming to DCA this school year and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Best Regards,
Mrs. Scott

Skyward Parent Portal
Family access provides insight into your student's assignments, grades, report cards, and attendance records. In addition, you will use the Family Access to make payments for applied school activity fees or complete online forms required by your school administration.
Emails were sent to parents and guardians about this on Wednesday, July 27, which provided account usernames and a reset password link which is good for 24 hours. The email also provided links to job aids and videos on using Family Access. Technical difficulties with Family Access requires a Service Ticket, and a link for submitting one was included as well. The email was titled "Skyward Q: Family Access Login Account Information." If you do not see it in your inbox, check your spam folder.
We are hopeful that with the launch of Skyward, communication between school and parents/guardians will be streamlined providing better communication. Your teachers and office staff are also in learning mode with this new system.

FACULTY SPOTLIGHT
Mrs. Linda Garretson, Registrar
One of the first faces you will see upon entering the school is our school secretary and Registrar, Linda Garretson. Born on June 28 in Waco, Texas, she actually considers Austin her hometown since she spent her first five years there while her dad was attending the University of Texas. After his graduation, her family moved to Salt Lake City where she started school. She remembers snowy winters, tobogganing down tall, steep hills, and building snow forts and snowmen. Since her family moved every year or two until she was in Middle School, she grew used to being the “new” kid in her classes.
Her parents finally settled down in Colleyville, Texas, right before she started Middle School. As a clarinet player, she LOVED being a part of the marching band in high school. She also enjoyed writing articles for the school newspaper and tutoring younger students as part of the NHS (National Honor Society). An unusual fact about Mrs. Garretson is that she received a motorcycle for Christmas as a freshman in high school and received her motorcycle license the next summer. She still holds a valid motorcycle license to this day. Mrs. Garretson’s first job was working as a barker at Six Flags over Texas, which helped her overcome her shyness.
Mrs. Garretson attended college at the University of Texas in Austin and at North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas), earning a BS in Counselor Education. Just two weeks before graduation, she met the love of her life, Chuck, on a blind date. Exactly one year later - to the day - they tied the knot and began their lives together. In two years, a bouncing brown-eyed baby girl named Alicia joined them followed three years later by her blond and blue-eyed brother, Matthew. For many years, life was full of baseball games, school work, church & youth group activities, musicals, and loads of fun. This year, the Garretsons celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Family is very important to Mrs. Garretson and she and Chuck enjoy spending time with their grown children, Alicia and her husband, Bill, as well as Matthew and his wife, Christen. Between the two families, they have seven grandchildren who are the apples of their eyes – Pruett, Piper, Michael, Greer, Easton, Everett, and Reese.
In her spare time, Mrs. Garretson enjoys reading, playing board games, camping, and having lots of fun with the grandchildren. Mrs. Garretson loves her job and enjoys interaction with teachers, students, staff, and parents. She feels that she couldn’t find a better place to work. Please stop by her desk and say hello when you are in the school building.
