The PACK Tutoring Program is Back!
PACK tutoring is available to all interested students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4pm in the Library. Teachers and peer tutors will be available to assist students with homework and assignments, and the Library will be available as a space for students to study. Students who normally take the bus to and from school will be able to take a late bus at 4pm on PACK days.
Upcoming Event for Heart Screening
The free heart screening event will be held at Mission Vista High School on February 9th, from 9am-2pm. All youth from the MVHS and surrounding communities are invited to come.

Magnet School Application Window and School Tours
Mission Vista will continue to host its regular school tours through mid-Feburary. The next tour is Tuesday, January 28th. More information about school tours can be found here.

4 Year Academic Plans will be available for students to work on in their Student Portal from Jan. 22 - Jan 31st, 2020.
Students should be using their Academic Plan Worksheet to assist them in their planning.
All students need to input their Academic Plan for all remaining grade levels now through Senior year, in their online Academic Plan by Jan 31st, 2020.
Courses requiring applications, auditions, or contracts can be selected through the online Academic Plan but students must complete the applications, auditions, or contract process, due March 27th, 2020, to remain in the class.
Students are expected to research using the online Course Catalog and discuss options with teachers, parents, & peers.
All 9th, 10th and 11th-grade students will be visiting Counseling in February & March for an Individual Academic Plan review.
- Students, please be aware that starting with the 2020-21 school year, VUSD Board Policy restricts Unscheduled/Free Period to Seniors only! Keep this in mind for upcoming course selection.
- ASVAB: The ASVAB will be Tuesday Feb.11th during 1st and 2nd period. All 10-12 grade students who are interested, please sign up on the MVHS Counseling Website or visit the Career Center.
- Scholarships/Community Service: Representatives from the Miss Oceanside Pageant will be on campus,Friday January 24th. This is a great opportunity to earn scholarships and community service hours. Visit the Career Center for more information.
- Many local scholarships are now open; come by the career center for assistance on completing your applications
Near-Peer Job Coaching Available for Students Interested in Finding a Job
Final exams took place on Thursday and Friday of this week, final grades for the Fall term will be posted on 1/8/20.

Q & A with the Principal and Information Session for ACT/SAT
On Tuesday, February 4th, the PTSA will host a regular board meeting, a Q & A with the Principal, and an information session from The Princeton Review about the ACT and SAT exams. Please plan to join us in the Library at 6pm.
Seniors: it's time to start thinking about scholarships! California State PTA offers a $750 Volunteer Service Scholarship and a $500 Dr. Ralph E. White Scholarship for medical-field education. The deadline to apply is 2/1/20. For more information, please click here.
Speaking of scholarships, your MVHS PTSA awards two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who are members of the MVHS PTSA. Stay tuned for a link to the application, which will be released next month. In the meantime, be sure that the student in your life is a PTSA member so they are eligible to apply! Spring Term Carpool Needs? In the fall, MVHS PTSA created a digital bulletin board for families to find carpools to and from school.
