Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!

Character Pack #2 is in the Books!

This afternoon we shared time with our Character Packs, exploring Rule #2 from The Energy Bus: Fuel Your Ride With Positive Energy. Students and staff practiced greeting each other and responding to greetings as a great way to start every interaction with positive energy. We can share our positive energy when we greet each other, and share our joy when we respond to the greetings that come our way. When we are genuine and take the time to listen and respond, we are really telling people, "I see YOU! YOU matter."

We enjoyed two books! Happy Right Now, by Julie Berry and A Little Spot of Happiness, by Diane Alber. Both of them offered some great strategies for recognizing how we can grow our own happiness when we need it. Students have a cute little spot of happiness on their desk or in their locker to remind them of their personal positive powers.

Our Bulldogs came up with LOTS of ways to grow their own happiness! We know that how we see the world has a lot to do with how we're feeling about ourselves, and choosing a positive attitude - fueling our ride with positive energy - makes a difference not only for ourselves, but for those around us, too. It's just easier to be around people who are making positive choices, and sharing positive energy. We're all working hard to learn how to be the kind of friend and classmate that anyone could feel safe and comfortable hanging out with all day.

Thank you for sharing your positive energy with your children, our team and our community. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have here at Belmont to share my positive energy with all of you. Even the challenges allow us to help our children and staff grow. I hope that your weekend is filled with happiness and fueled with positive energy!

Our Next PTO Meeting is Monday at 6:30pm!

Join us in the cafeteria at 6:30 on Monday, November 21! We've got lots of exciting events on the calendar and would love to collaborate with YOU to make all of the magical steps fall in place! Come out and find YOUR PLACE in our PTO!

There will be coloring opportunities and picture books available if you need to bring your children. We don't have a 'staffed' option, but they'll be in the cafeteria with us so you can comfortably keep one eye on them and not miss out.

From the Health Department:

The transition to chillier weather often comes hand-in-hand with cold and flu season, but healthy habits can help protect everyone from getting or spreading germs. As we enter cold and flu season, we appreciate you encouraging these healthy habits with your children.

  • If you have a child who is sick, we ask for your support by keeping them at home. Students and staff must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication, and free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • If your student is diagnosed with Influenza (“the Flu”) or with COVID, they must remain at home for 5 days from the onset of illness, with return on day 6.
  • If you have questions about your student’s health, please contact your school nurse. Additional information regarding health and wellness is available on the district website.
  • Remind your child of important preventative measures for any illness, such as coughing into the sleeve, frequently washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and getting plenty of rest and fluids.

As you know, the health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority. Our school staff will continue to stress preventative measures, and our custodial staff will continue to follow appropriate cleaning procedures to ensure common areas shared by students and points of high contact are disinfected. Thank you for your support.
