What happens in a political reality where individual rights are absent?
1984, a novel by Eric Blair (under the pen name George Orwell), follows Winston Smith, an inhabitant of Oceania that works for the Ministry of Fiction and hates The Party, an oppressive tyranny that is trying to remove the past, and even the concept of memory itself.
Main Characters
Winston
The main character of the story. Hates The Party and what they're doing with Oceania, and seeks to stop their reign.
Julia
Winston's partner in thoughtcrime. Against The Party and all it stands for, much like Winston, but much better at hiding this.
O'Brien
An antagonist in disguise. Winston's (former) boss, and proud member and torturer for the Thought Police.
