In Case You Missed It

Spirit/Red Ribbon/Breast Cancer Awareness Week went off without a hitch because of great planning from Liana Velte, Laurie McCauley, Christina Reed, Nejla deLambert, and Regan Courliss. It was a HUGE success because of everyone's great attitudes, spirit, and committement this week to promote and participate. The pictures placed in our Spirit Week folder are priceless! Thank you to ALL!

We also accomplished our goal of raising enough funds with our raffle ticket sales to fund our building at the football/soccer field to house a consession stand, bathrooms, and score tower. PTSO reported we raised $4999 and netted $3479 with our expenses. This is so exciting!!! Our next goal is to have it ready by spring soccer season. Thank you for advertising and showing excitement in your rooms, buying tickets, collecting envelopes, sending envelopes to the front, and allowing students out of class for celebrations.

Thank you to Vivian Cunningham and Alisha Kish, Todd Kish's wife :), for agreeing to represent SLMS on the LCS Calendar Committee. The first meeting is Nov. 6 at 3:30 pm.

Wednesday afternoon, Liana Velte and Cindy Quiggle and I went to the Middle School Curriculum and Instruction meeting hosted at West Lee Middle School. All middle schools had to present their School Improvement Plan to the group. The presentation board is below. Our plans will be taken to the LCS Board of Education meeting on November 11 for approval.

Keeping You in the Loop

Daria Campbell, our school nurse, has announced she will be retiring November 21. She has over 30 years in nursing and wants to spend some time taking care of herself and family. If you need any new or refresher training on anything between now and then, please see Daria in the coming days to work out a time.

Haley Smith has been around this week as announced earlier. She is excited to get started. Please support her any way you can. Jackie Treado has agreed to stay on as a tutor to assist with the fourth transition for these students. We are lucky to have her!

We do have someone for the 7th grade math position that will be starting November 17. I will announce her name after it is approved by the board on November 11. November 17th is also the day that Erica Mentzer will return from her maternity leave.

Ellen Duncan is due to have her new baby at anytime now. We do have a certified art teacher filling in for her while she is away. His name is Daniel Reams. Daniel is should be in to do some observations next week. Please welcome him and assist anyway you can.
