Summer Food Pantry
The Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation is extending its Caring About Nutrition (CAN) services this summer. If you are a Ray-Pec family in need of help feeding school-aged children, the CAN pantry will be open from 8 to 11 a.m. Mondays through Aug. 8th. Bring students in grades K-12 to room 313 in the Ray-Pec Academy building (across from Shull Elementary) to select items for breakfasts and lunches for the week. Volunteers will provide "shopping lists" and be available to help our student shoppers. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Allison Bruflat at abruflat@gmail.com.
Detour for Curve on School Road
As part of the Peculiar Way road construction project, a detour will be implemented on School Road. Traffic at the curve on School Road at 211th Street will be re-routed to use the Ray-Pec School District campus drive around the Administrative Services Center. The detour will impact northbound and southbound traffic from approximately June 27th to July 22nd. The construction will essentially remove the "curves" where School Road meets 211th Street. The improvements are associated with the construction of the new interchange at I-49 and 211th Street. The portion of 211th Street from Peculiar Drive to School Road has been re-named Peculiar Way. The Missouri Department of Transportation and City of Peculiar hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the interchange project on Aug. 25, 2015.
(The project is separate from Phase II of School Road construction from 195th Street to 203rd Street.)

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a character development program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grades that incorporates physical activity to teach very specific and well-defined social and personal skills. The nationally recognized curriculum includes lessons dealing with issues such as body image, negative self-talk, resisting peer pressure, gratitude, gossip, nutrition, substance abuse, making healthy decisions and contributing to the community.
At the end of each season, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5k event. Completing the 5k gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. On Saturday May 21st a group of girls from Eagle Glen ran the 5K. Those girls are pictured above with Mrs. Schmidt (6th math teacher), Mrs. Renfro (6th ELA teacher), & Mrs. Stockman (volunteer). If you are interested in having your daughter participate in Girls on the Run, let us know. Another group will be starting again the fall.

5th Grade Preview Day & Meet the Teacher Night
All students and parents are invited to participate in Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, August 15th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers and allow your child to practice opening his/her locker. Students may also bring their school supplies on this evening. A representative from Child Nutrition will also be available to deposit money into your child’s lunch account.
Student Dress Code
A complete Dress Code Policy will be printed in your child’s planner, but it is important for all students and their parents to be aware of a couple of the guidelines as you prepare for the coming year. First, the midriff area must be covered at all times. Be sure all shirts are long enough to avoid this situation. Also, spaghetti straps and tank tops should not be worn. Please be cautious of shorts that are too short. Lastly, pants should not sag. Any student not following the dress code will be sent to the nurse’s office, where either a call home will be made or appropriate alternative clothing will be provided. We appreciate your cooperation in supporting our school dress code.
Student Pictures
Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 13th. All students will have their picture taken on this day for the yearbook. Information regarding purchasing pictures will be sent home with your child prior to the 13th. Picture Re-Take Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1st. This day is set up for those who were absent on the original picture day.
Transportation
Bus: If your child is going to be riding the bus to and/or from school, please be sure he/she knows the correct bus number before leaving for school on the first day. Information regarding bus routes and bus numbers will be mailed to all students. The routes will also be posted in the newspaper and on the school website (www.raypec.k12.mo.us). If you have any questions or concerns or any problems with the bus now or throughout the year, please call Apple Bus Company at (816) 318-1900.

Pay for Meals and Fees Online
Pay online for meals and school fees: Web store offers one location for payments. The District's Web Store has been updated to make it easier to pay for student meals along with required and optional student fees. Paying through the Web Store (https://raypeck12.revtrak.net/tek9.asp):
- Saves time by allowing you to log into ONE website for meals and fees
- Eliminates the need to send cash or checks to school for meal payments
- Allows you to make meal payments for more than one student
- Accepts personal checks, as well as debit and credit cards
- Charges NO transaction fees
To streamline the registration process, go to the Web Store and select "Required School Fees." If you pay your fees online, please print a copy of your receipt and bring it to central registration event on July 27th or Aug. 2nd. After paying required fees, you can continue shopping to make meal payments and to pay optional fees, such as activities or parking. To access the Web Store from the District website: Select "For Parents" and "Pay Fees Online." When making meal payments, you will need your child's cafeteria PIN number. New customers will be asked to create an account. By signing into your Web Store account, you will be able to see your student's meal account current balance and can receive low balance notifications via your provided e-mail address. For additional assistance, contact the Child Nutrition Department at 816-892-1370.
