YOU MATTER Week - So Fun To Celebrate FHS!!
ASB worked hard last week and this week to Celebrate "You Matter" Week. Each day had a focus and the Team highlighted this focus in various ways. Tuesday’s focus was Self-Appreciation. ASB wanted students to recognize how much they mean to themselves and that they have a bright future ahead of them. All they had to do is walk thru the door. They noticed that every classroom had a decoration complete with an inspirational statement to encourage students to internalize and realize their full potential. THANKS EMMA and RYAN!!!
Staff recognized this important week by incorporating into their classrooms in multiple ways.
Tuesday – Self-Appreciation
Wednesday – Peer Appreciation
Thursday – Campus Appreciation
Friday – Staff Appreciation

Foothill Engineering and Technology (FEAT)
Foothills VEX Robotics teams are having a great season. They have been tournament champions is seven consecutive events. Three teams have qualified for the California State Championships and two teams are going to the U.S. Robotics Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The seven tournament wins started on October 29th at the North San Diego Tournament (Poway High School) and most recently they were champions at the USC Skills Tournament on February 11th. During their streak of wins the teams have defeated over 200 robotics teams. Foothills four VEX teams have one more tournament next Saturday, February 25 at the TUSD Open Tournament in Irvine (Orchard Hills School) and then it will be off to the State Championships, the National Championships and hopefully the World Championships in late April. If you wish to see the teams and robots in action, come by Orchard Hills School on the 25th. The competition begins at 9:00 AM.
Health Club
Last school year, a group of students at Foothill started the Health Club to raise awareness for scoliosis and other pediatric conditions common among adolescents.
The Health Club held a fundraiser last fall that sent over $1000 to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and USC for a joint research project to examine the psychological effects of scoliosis.
In addition to fundraising, the Health Club spearheads the Health and Wellness Week every year. Last year, the Health and Wellness Week focused on nutrition and healthy dieting. The Health Club handed out free organic food products from local farmers markets and healthy homemade goods (gluten free, organic, low sodium, etc,) during break with support from the PTO and ASB.
Every Student Succeeding Award Ceremony!
Sydney Sigafus is a sophomore student who we find to be an exceptionally positive, committed, caring, motivated, and achieving student. This past summer Sydney was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, Sydney has not let chemotherapy slow her down one bit. She continues to keep up with all of her work while battling cancer.

ASB Update
"Representatives of Foothill High School's ASB will be attending the annual CADA state conference. Designed to spark ideas, network with other activities directors, and learn about the data behind activities, the CADA conference hopes to inspire Foothill ASB to continue to promote a positive school environment while approaching innovative ideas to enhance the student experience"
Registration Begins
Beginning February 27 through March 2 counselors will be in all English classes to present detailed information about choosing courses for the next school year. This is an opportunity to ask questions, make sure students are on track, not only for high school graduation, but also to meet their college and/or career goals.
In March, students will meet individually with their counselor to review the courses selected. This is an opportunity for the counselor to review that the student is meeting both graduation requirements and A-G UC subject requirements. Students can clarify any questions at this time regarding appropriate course sequence and level of rigor in course work.
Choral Program Thanks You!
The Foothill High School Choral Program would like to thank the families, students, faculty, staff and supporters who came out for Knights on Broadway from February 14-18. Thanks to your support, all 7 shows sold out in advance of opening night! The 130-plus students loved sharing their passion for singing, dancing, and performing with more than 1,200 audience members during the show's run.
Your next opportunity to see the choirs perform will be at our Spring Concert, which features more traditional choral repertoire. The concert, scheduled for Tuesday, May 30th at 7 p.m., will be held at Red Hill Lutheran Church, 13200 Red Hill Avenue in Tustin. All tickets are sold at the door - $10 for adults and $5 for seniors or students. We hope you’ll make plans to attend.
