Superintendent's Update - 9.10.2021
Dear CPS Community,
The first few weeks of school are behind us, and we are in the full swing of the school year. It always amazes me how quickly everyone adjusts to the routines at the beginning of the school year. Our students and staff have been terrific in relearning many of the nuances of in-person learning after being away from it for awhile. Although we have some adjustments to make in the coming weeks as we re-roll out full in-person learning, I am confident that everyone will be able to handle the adjustments as we return to a more normal education.
I continue to ask for your assistance in providing your child’s COVID vaccination status and consent to participate in our weekly COVID pool testing program. Further, for your child to be allowed to remain in school if identified as a close contact of a COVID positive individual this year, consent is required for your child to participate in our Test and Stay protocol. Please take a few minutes to review the information about these important COVID mitigation strategies on our website, and follow the links to provide consent for your child to participate, as we look to keep our students and staff as safe as possible this school year.
This year is the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the country. We remember the sorrow of that day, however, also the dedication, commitment, and strength of those who responded to the tragic events. Please take some time this weekend to reflect on this historic event that has changed us as a nation.
I am refining and will soon post our CPS COVID dashboard to the website. The dashboard will provide weekly information on the number of student and staff COVID cases, and pool testing results as the school year progresses. Please take a few minutes to enjoy some of the pictures below of students in the new school year. Have a great weekend.
