Love Your Passengers
We are kicking off our "Love Your Passengers Campaign" by challenging our staff and students each day. What better way to show kindness and spread love than by doing something to show it each day during the month of February. Parents, you are invited to get in on the fun too! After you do, share it with your children.

What does Comprehension mean and how can you help?
What is reading comprehension? Reading comprehension is the ability to read text, process what has been read, and understand its meaning.
It is important not only for your child to read nightly, but also important to comprehend and understand what he/she has read. Below are some types of questions that may help you check your child’s comprehension and understanding of the book being read at home. (Please note: You do not have to ask all these questions, but choose 2-3 each night to guide discussion of the book or chapter read.)
· What happened in your book?
· What do we know so far? How do you know this?
· Who are the characters and how are they feeling in the story? What are some events from the story that cause the feelings?
· What are you seeing? How did you figure this out? What words or phrases did the author use to help you paint that picture in your mind?
· What does the author want you to think? How did the author accomplish this?
· What life lesson(s) (theme) can be learned from the characters in the story? Give evidence from the story to support this lesson.
· What new learning did you gain from this book?
· Is this a good title for the book? Why or why not?
· What words did you have to think about to figure out the meanings?

Staying Well
We need your help to reduce the spread of germs! By working together and taking precautions, we can help to minimize the impact of any illness that can be spread to others.
Please be reminded of the following:
· Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds;
· Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands;
- Avoid kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick;
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is sick;
- Stay home when feeling sick, and obtain consultation from your health care provider.
o Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have vomiting or diarrhea
o Ill children should stay home until 24 hours after they are fever free without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
- Cover your cough/sneeze. It is best to cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands. If you cough/sneeze in your hands or in a tissue, make sure you wash your hands afterwards.
- These everyday steps are a good way to reduce your chances of getting the flu. However, a yearly flu vaccine is the best protection against flu illness.
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO GET YOUR FLU SHOT!!
