Merryhill Tech Newsletter
Sharing ideas and experiences with student iPads
Resource Newsletter
Welcome to the second installation of the Merryhill Tech Newsletter, focused on sharing what we are learning about iPads and using the technology in our classrooms. Smore itself is a great resource for you! Go to www.smore.com and sign up for a free account. It makes it easy to create online flyers like this one.
Osmo
We have this awesome tool as part of our technology arsenal. Students can interact with the iPad to manipulate tangrams and play word games. A mirror that attaches to the iPad camera checks their answers! Check out the website http://www.playosmo.com
to find out more. Please take it to play with and use with your students!
Kidblog
A classroom blog is not as scary as it sounds. Blogging just means sharing ideas in a single forum. I can help you create a Kidblog account so you can get started asking and answering questions with your students. The platform initiates discussion among classmates and is an excellent forum for teaching online etiquette.
ShowMe App
Don't forget about this versatile app, that works well in a one, small group, or one-to-one iPad classroom. See article below that shows how one teacher turned her one classroom iPad into a tool students could use to teach each other!

Timeline
Students can create timelines for date (history), time (schedule) and event (sequence). They can also manipulate the order of items, add text and pictures.
Trading Cards
Students can create description cards for people or literary characters. The app provides guiding questions to help students think critically. When working or when finished, you can save and share their cards.
Bill Nye the Science Guy
Yes, he has an app!
