Fulton Focus
For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
May 1, 2020
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons:
Needless to say, this has been an interesting year, undoubtedly the most challenging time period in my career. As the pandemic progressed, the path forward became less clear, and there became a general understanding that FPS would be adjusting to a ‘new normal’ as pandemic issues decreased. Yet the path forward, while challenging, is exciting! I have tremendous confidence in our faculty, staff, and administrative team to prepare FPS for the next school year constantly focusing on “Students First”.
Prior to moving into the next school year, our immediate activities are to finalize our current year.
Student contacts will continue through May 21.
No student will be denied grade-level advancement due to the shutdown period.
Our annual Senior Awards Program will continue in a virtual format.
FPS will be participating in lighting the stadium, the National Senior recognition, on May 8, 2020.
Annual Senior Nights for Spring activities will be held virtually.
‘Grab and Go’ meals will continue through May 21, 2020. A summer food program is being considered.
Commencement is being planned for June or July at the Robert E. Fisher Stadium.
Secondary students (grades 6 through Juniors) may retain their Chromebook this summer for use in the next school year.
Retrieval of student personal items is scheduled for the last week of school, additional information follows.
Various options for Summer School are being explored. More information will be coming next week.
Effective Monday, May 4, District and Building Offices will be open for calls and by appointment. However, buildings will remain closed to students and general walk-in traffic. Faculty will be allowed in facilities as scheduled to comply with social distancing standards. Anyone entering an FPS facility will be health screened upon entering and perhaps on leaving.
COVID 19 has been confusing and stressful. I think I am speaking for all school staff in that we will be glad to see students and colleagues again. Our focus remains “Students First” which guides our decisions.
We sincerely appreciate your constant support and ability to retain our Faculty and Staff during the COVID 19 pandemic. Thank you for sending great students for us to work with!
Best wishes,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.

Class of 2033 Kindergarten Orientation
The link to the 2020 Virtual Kindergarten Orientation can be found below. All information that would have been covered at the previously scheduled orientation is at this link in video format. You can also sign up for your child's screening.
Please share this information with anyone who has a child who will enter Kindergarten this fall.
Friday Night Lights
Fulton will be joining schools around the country, Friday, May 8th, by turning on our baseball and football stadium lights at 8:20 p.m. which is 20:20 military time, and leaving them lit for 20 minutes, and 20 seconds to honor the class of 2020.
We welcome the community to drive by athletic complex fields and honk in support of our spring seniors but due to our school closure and federal/state mandates, there will be no gatherings of students/parents on the property during this time. We are finalizing the Spring Senior Athletic recognition video and will share the release of that soon. We appreciate your patience.
Congrats!
