TECHNOLOGY UPDATE...
From what my sources have told me, our computers should work better once re-imaged. I have no idea what this process is technically, I assume it involves a Jedi Knight and a new image of some kind. My computer was re-imaged on Friday, and seems to work well, however I have only used it on my home network this weekend, and my network has typically worked well in the past. Thank you Comcast. Time will tell how it handles when at school.
Printing. From what I gather, each of us will be assigned two areas to print. The middle school copier and the high school copier. Ricoh has assured us that they have reinstalled a new set of hamsters inside each copier. These hamsters are in much better shape than our previous set of hamsters, which had many miles on their feet and each were of considerable age. One feature that we were unable to secure with this upgrade was the hamsters ability to count, therefore, we will not have to worry about the amount of copies we make. That should come as a bit of a relief to all of us.
As for the student iPads, the theory is that students birthdates may be incorrect which is leading to their inability to access the network. Once students realize their correct birthdate, this should correct this issue.
I hope all of you understand that I am having some fun with this issue. I hope that this finds you in a place and time where you can have a little fun with it also. Technology is a tool, and one which is very important for many of our classrooms. I would like to take time to applaud those who have worked very hard to improve our network, computers, and overall technology. It is very easy to get frustrated with this process, and we can easily become angry with the situation. However, we have made a goal to not allow ourselves to fall into deficit thinking. Please continue to be patient, and know that everyone working on our technology is doing the very best that they can to get us back to 100%. I have found a very easy way of coping with the issue at hand, I have walked the building and made class visits. During these visits I am made aware of our greatest weapon, our teachers. Education has continued without a computer, iPad, projector, and an AppleTV. Even though each of you feel that you need these tools, rest assured that your administration trusts that our students only need YOU! We trust each of you, and appreciate each of you. Keep "Knocking Down Those Walls!"
