Hello Hilltopper Families!
We had a great 100th day celebration at Park last week. The students enjoyed our all school movement break with 100 steps around the Square on Friday. Officer Tim even joined in the fun with a police escort and full sirens when we took step 100! We are so lucky to have this community space right outside our doors.
We're more than halfway through the third quarter, and it’s exciting to see the progress and learning taking place at Park! In order for this fabulous growth to continue, it’s important for students to attend school daily. This week, letters went out about excessive absences to families whose children have missed 10% or more of school days, whether or not there's a valid reason. Whether your child was sick, on vacation or for no specific reason, if they've missed 10% or more of school days this year, we're required by law (House Bill 410) to send you this notice.
If you received one of these notices, no action is required at the moment. It's just a friendly heads-up about your child's absences and a gentle reminder to support them in attending school as much as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee
IMPORTANT- BLIZZARD BAGS
Since we have reached our 5th calamity day, we want to inform you about our Blizzard Bag Plan for Park Elementary which will be going home tomorrow, February 9th. We are providing Blizzard Bags to your child in the event of inclement weather resulting in a school closure. This will enable your child to continue their learning at home. These bags will contain TWO DAYS WORTH of assignments and activities which align with their current curriculum. Your child's teacher will provide instructions and we encourage you to engage with your child in completing these assignments to ensure continuity in their education. As for the specials classes, complete ONLY the activity for the special the child has on that calamity day. You will have 10 school days to complete each day's Blizzard Bag assignments. For example, if we have a snow day on March 1, the bag would be due on March 15th. We appreciate your support in making learning a collaborative effort, even on snow days. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
Stay warm and safe!

100 Steps Around the Chardon Square!
We like to move it, move it! We are lucky here at Park School to be able to utilize our Historic Chardon Square! Friday, February 2nd was our 100th day of school, so we celebrated by seeing how far around the Square 100 steps could take us. The fresh air and movement break were enjoyed by all!

🐾 STAFF PET SPOTLIGHT! 🐾
Introducing our latest newsletter feature – "Park Pets!" Each week, we will spotlight a different staff member and their beloved furry, feathery, or scaly pet, sharing heartwarming stories, fun facts and adorable photos. It's a wonderful way to get to know our team on a more personal level and celebrate the joy that pets bring to our lives. Who can resist the charm of a wagging tail or a purring friend? We hope you enjoy meeting the beloved pets of our Park staff!
Students in Mrs. Haines’ second grade class read a story about famous landscape artist George Morrison. Students observed his horizon artwork and then visualized how it would look where water meets land in their own drawings. Afterwards, they painted their own landscapes and horizons and shared them with their classmates.
Congratulations to our student wrestlers! It's been a fantastic season!
The Chardon Youth Wrestling team is on the move! The team just won the league championship with a 14-0 dual meet record and several state qualifiers. We have nearly doubled in size in the last 2 years with over 80 wrestlers on the team in grades K-6.
