Attention Grade 1-8 Educators!
LISD Professional Development Center
For All Grade 1-8 Educators!
Presenter, Dr. Charlene Cobb is co-author of the book, “No More 'Look up the List' Vocabulary Instruction" and Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for an Illinois school district. As a presenter, she brings with her experience as a teacher, reading specialist, and assistant superintendent. The professional learning will address such questions as:
- How do I find the time I need to focus on fostering a word-rich environment?
- How many words should I teach and how do I select them?
- How can I assess and hold students accountable?
Dr. Cobb will provide useful vocabulary practices that teach educators how to release their hold on vocabulary instruction of the past and focus on meaningful vocabulary instruction. Attendees will be given a collection of strategies and resources to support them as they navigate their own word learning, including the book, “No More 'Look up the List' Vocabulary Instruction.”
