2018-2019: Rich Learning; Enriched Students
Our Mission: Arbor Springs Committed to Student Success.
From Dr. Durrance
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the fun run! The top earners were Cannon Thomas, James Hicks, and Emery and Peyton Keroack who tied for third place! Kudos! Thanks especially to our hard-working and dedicated PTA and prize patrol members who help make the Gator Run so successful each year!
Students are reading more than ever! We have quite a few students who have already met their 30-book goal for the year! We love chatting with students during lunch about what they are reading and what they recommend to us! Dr. Tarleton is finishing Hatchet, and I just finished Chains, by Laurie Halse Anderson. I'm trying to decide whether to start Fish in a Tree or the sequel to Chains next!
We hope to see you October 25 between 6 and 7 PM for Family Fun Night. Chick Fil A meals will be available starting at 5:30.
Mark your calendars for Friday, November 2 for Coffee with the Admin team. We will meet in the cafeteria at 9 AM. We will have some information for you about ways you can help your student with reading and math at home.

Swimming in a School of Character:
The character word for the month of September was responsibility. Responsibility means to carry out a duty or task carefully and thoroughly. Students who are taught to be responsible and accountable for their choices and actions develop a greater sense of self-worth and confidence in their ability to make right choices. They will receive the satisfaction of knowing that they are dependable, and trustworthy people who take responsibility for their actions.
National Hispanic Heritage Month
During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) we recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture.
Red Ribbon Week
The National Family Partnership organized the first Nationwide Red Ribbon Campaign. NFP provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual National Red Ribbon Celebration. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness. The students and faculty at Arbor
Springs will show our commitment to a drug-free lifestyle by participating in various Red Ribbon activities all week long. We will celebrate and honor National Red Ribbon Week from 10/22-10/26. Our theme this year is Life is your journey, travel drug free. Please talk to your children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, peer pressure and embracing integrity by making good decisions.
