Cats
by Andrew M. Baker
Do you like cats and want to learn more about them? Yes? Then you've come to the right place because I'm going to try to cover every single fact from the fact that cats have more than 100 vocal sounds to cats can't taste sweet things.
--------------------------Types Of Cats-------------------------
Note: These are just THREE types of cat breeds. There are hundreds of cat breeds out there. I just picked three of my favorite.
American Shorthair
The American Shorthair is, if you're an American, the house cat that most people have. American Shorthairs are the ones that sometimes look like they're angry.
Siamese
The Siamese cat is also a well know cat. Siamese cats are mostly a whitish gray color but only the tips of the cat (like the nose, ears, tail, ect.) are different colors.
Sphinx
The Sphinx cat is the cat with no hair. And it is the cat that has its own statue in Egypt. Sometimes Sphinx cats look like E.T. with a flat head and no hair.

Tom and the Queen
You can name your cat whatever you want but did you know all the males already have a name? The females do to (but like I said you can name your cat whatever you want)! A male, or boy, is called a Tom. A female, or girl, is called a Queen or a Molly. Then there is also a few extra names like a group of cats is called a Clowder and a group of kittens is called a Kindle.
Small But Great
Cats may be small but, to be honest, it would be better to be a cat in a lot of ways. First, because cats have powerful night vision allowing them to see at light levels six times than what a human needs in order to see. Second, cats have better hearing that us so they can hear their prey approaching. And third, cats have better sense of smell than us humans so they can sniff out their prey. Basically they use all their great senses for hunting.
Cats Great Weights
Cats don't weigh very much because they're small. This how much they weigh: A male weighs about 15 pounds and a female weighs about 12 pounds.
World Record
The heaviest domestic cat on record is 46 pounds!
Popular Pets
I mean, you don't have to get a cat, but cats are pretty popular. So if you're going to get a pet them I would recommend getting a cat because, A, cats are one of, if not the most, popular pet in the world. And, B, cats and humans have been associated for nearly 10,000 years! So now do you see that cats are pretty fantastic felines!
I Believe I Can Fly
Did you know that cats can, even though they do sleep 16 to 18 hours a day, jump approximately seven times it height! Cats can also run as a car. They can run up to 30 mph! That means if a cat ran a race against any human, it would win!
Long Live The Cats
Only get a cat if you're willing to love it and care for it for about 13 years because cats live around 12 to 15 years. Also, a little tip, if you keep your cat indoors then it you might be able to have your cat for a few more years than you would if you let it outside.
Playful Pets
Cats/kittens are like stampeding rhinos when they have a toy or a friend to play with. Every once in a while your cat will get playful. Like sometimes when they're bored they attack our ankles. Also if a cat hits you with its paws and with no claws out, it's just playing not fighting. Kittens are even more playful. They're the ones that are really like stampeding rhinos. Kittens are also playful more often than cats do. If you give a kitten a toy (a kitten that is used to you and knows you) then it will run around your house like crazy batting it around with its paws. And if you see two kittens fighting then usually they're just "play fighting".
Hello...It's Me.
Humans greet each other by shaking hands. Cats can't do that. So they have a different way of greeting each other. They greet each other by touching noses. Although, sometimes when they meet they have an instant disliking of each other and they start to fight. This happens usually when an adult cat meets a kitten (not when it meets their own kitten of course).
Power Words
domestic cat: house cat
approximately: almost exact
mph: miles per hour
--------------------------Myth Busting--------------------------
Cats Always Land On Their Feet
This myth is partially not a myth because how this happens is that the cats that is falling can turn its body while its falling so that its feet are facing the ground and so by the time it hits the ground the cats feet are in position and ready to land on its feet.
Cats Have 9 Lives
This is false. It's just a popular myth that has been around hundreds of years. No one knows for sure how this myth started. All I know is that cats have only ONE life.
