1/8/2021 NPS COVID-19 Update / Symptom Screener
January 2021 UPDATED SYMPTOM SCREENING TOOL AND REMINDER
It is critical that children are still screened at home EACH MORNING before coming to school. This process is what helps keep our students and staff safe in school and a primary contributor to allowing us to continue in-person learning for students.
The Wayne County Health Department has updated the COVID-19 Daily Symptom Screening Tool STUDENT (1.8.2021) to reflect the reflect the importance of not sending a child to school with a fever over 100.3 F with or without other symptoms and the CDC recommendation of a 10 day quarantine period for those without symptoms that are identified as close contacts to a positive COVID-19 case. It is important to continue to closely monitor your child for symptoms using this updated screener tool prior to sending your child to school. This continued effort by all parents will allow us to maintain a safe environment for all students and staff and support our ability to provide continued in-person learning for all students.
March is Reading Month Virtual Author Visits
March is Reading Month is almost here! At Winchester, we know that means LOTS of reading, goal setting, visits from authors, fun activities, prizes, and much more. As usual, we are offering families the opportunity to purchase signed copies of the books. Please see the order forms below to find out more about the books that are available. Please note that all orders are due by February 17th.

Want to meet other Winchester families? Exercise your skills and share your perspectives? Be part of the conversations that shape our community and PTA priorities? There is a place for you on our PTA Board for the 2021-2022 School Year!
The PTA Board oversees the budget, priorities, community building and supplemental programming at Winchester throughout the school year. Each year we recruit for almost 50 committees and volunteer positions to help support events and programs at Winchester.
Our PTA Board meets regularly during the school year and holds meetings on Wednesdays every other month. Several board members are fulfilling the second year of their term, so it’s a great chance for new parents to join. We encourage everyone to consider participating; it’s a supportive, fun and flexible group, and we are grateful to those who choose to volunteer their time!

7 Habits at Home
This week's at home Habit challenge is:
Habit 3: Put First Things First Make a chart for a week that shows important tasks you complete daily, such as chores, homework completion, and exercise. Update the chart with a check to show that you completed the task or a dot to show that you did not complete the task. Reflect on how you did at the end of the week.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw Find a place in your home, outside, or nearby that you think is restful. Sit there and reflect or meditate for 5 minutes each day. Did you think about things that have already happened, things you hope will happen in the future, or both?
Students are encouraged to share a photo of your completed activity of their family working on the habit together! They can send their pictures to Mrs. Bush, School Social Worker @ firstname.lastname@example.org or Mrs. Lindsay @ email@example.com to be included in the morning announcements.
